Overlook by far is my favorite park. It has it all, the library, a mini golf course, picnic tables for you to eat there if you want to. The big playground has several areas for the kiddos to play in, there is a smaller playset with multiple slides and a mini rock climbing wall, there are 4 animals to ride on (a dog, a whale, a duck and a horse), there is a bigger play set next to the smaller one with multiple slides, a bridge, a bigger rock climbing wall for bigger kids, then there's a huge "spider web" for them to climb and a sideways hollow log to hide in and real huge rocks for them to climb on, there is also a bocce ball fenced in area and an electronic simon-say-style thingamabob for parents and kiddos alike to enjoy right at the entrance of the playground. There is a dog park, a smaller playground right between the dog park and the skateboard park and a pool. There are trails for you to walk on and plenty of green space and even woods to enjoy nature as you walk. Truly this park has it all. It is never overcrowded and always clean with their carry in and carry out policy. They did add a restroom at the park which is a great upgrade from the porta potty they used to have and even the bathroom is always clean. I truly...
Read moreThis park is wonderful, endless trails and great amenities you don't typically see anywhere else. My only gripe is about the disc golf course. You are told to park at Destination Playground and follow the signs. The signs lead you up behind the dog park in to the woods where you will find the 1st tee discreetly hidden. By the looks of it from the sign for the first tee, you should be throwing over some small trees to reach the hole. Like any other normal person that has been playing disc golf, the tee box sign faces the general direction of the hole. Instead you must turn 90 degrees to the right of the sign and throw along the narrow trail, you will eventually see the hole which also isn't numbered, from there you can see hole 2 with a missing sign and figure it out as you go. I live in a smaller town about 40 minutes from this course that has less money but invested in improving their parks, specifically their disc golf course with new cement tee boxes and hole signs. I would hope this park would consider doing this as this course would be way more fun and...
Read moreA gem in the middle of Manheim Township. Runs east to west from Lititz Pike to Fruitville Pike through beautifully maintained green areas and thoughtfully laid out 'wild areas'. Lots of opportunities for kids to play including a skatepark and swimming pool. Adults have choices that include a golf course or restaurant. Walking paths abound for birdwatchers, health enthusiasts, and photographers. Walkers and joggers can be seen meandering through the winding paths, kids in tow, at all times of the day and early evening. Plenty of parking available. A must place to visit whether you live in this area or are merely passing through. Well designed and beautifully maintained. From one end to the other. All this natural beauty surrounding a state of the art library situated near the center of the park. All season...
