One of the worst retail experiences. I went into this place a couple of months back. I don't typically go to Gamestop because Best Buy treats me very well and is my retailer of choice for all things gaming. However, this time around I went to Best Buy to purchase a slim version of the PS4 because I was sick and tired of carrying my current PS4 Pro between rooms and wanted a smaller one to put in my bedroom.
Very simple, I asked Gamestop for the slim PS4 1tb version. (If my memory serves me correctly, it was $299.99.) The gentlemen sitting behind the counter said that I should not purchase the PS4 slim new, and that they had a regular PS4 version for about $50 less and that I should just buy it used. I stated that I just wanted the 1tb slim new and that I was okay with paying the additional $50. This guy began to argue with me about how I should save the $50 and that it was stupid to waste it for an identical product. After he got argumentative, I followed suit and told him that it was not the same. The used PS4 was a 500gb version, was used, an older overall model, and bigger albeit it did come with a game. (I wanted the smaller PS4 because of limited space in my bedroom.) He continued to argue with me about the better value of the used PS4, how I would get a game with it (don't remember what game, nor did I have any interest in it as I'm sure I would have remembered if I did.)
Eventually, I got sick and tired of arguing with him and asked him if he could bring out the PS4 slim as I requested. He stated that he would go "check if they have it," which I know they did and came out with the PS4 I asked for, was extremely rude about the whole thing, basically through it in a bag, took my money and didn't say a word.
I'm not sure if this is a high-pressure sales commissioned position, but I happen to be a commission employee in a high-pressure environment myself, and never would I be rude to/argue with a customer because that particular sale wasn't as high in my commission as another one I wanted them to go with.
I've heard these stories before about Gamestop, but I always took them with a grain of salt. Never will I ever purchase/trade a used item there. Their profit margins are ridiculous on those used items. They buy a game for $17 and sell it to some 12 year old for $55. I would buy it new just based on principle and I would rather give a game to someone outside of the store rather than trade it in there and get "hustled" by Gamestop. Avoid this place and go to a friendlier environment for your...
Read moreThis GameStop is one of the nicer stores in the chain, everything is very neat and displayed well for consumers to see as soon as they enter the storefront. You are always greeted by a worker at the front desk and they are generally friendly and very knowledgeable/passionate about the products that they are selling and enjoy talking to customers who share the similar interests.
My only few gripes are that they are moving away from PC games stored in house, they literally have approximately 15 PC titles, no duplicates, in a bottom shelf out of the way of the rest of the items, I actually had to ask where the PC games were they were so difficult to find. In addition, it appears they are jumping on the toy/bobblehead bandwagon in that they now carry basically every Funko Pop bobblehead from every genre/company encompassing every character known to man.
I am giving this store a 4 of 5 stars merely in relation to all other GameStops that I've visited, this one being the best of the bunch that I've been to. Also, if you cannot find a game there that you came for, let them know and they'll call around to local stores to see if they have it in stock and will have them hold a copy for you if you would like, a...
Read moreEmployees are not overly focused on working add on sales into every aspect of conversation at this location. GameStop overall may have it's issues however this blanket statement does not extend into this location. Employees are helpful and able to fit in their company mandated sale pitches in an appropriate manner that does not feel forced or alienating to the customer. Any time I have placed an in store pick up order online the product has been put aside and ready for pick up. Though there are times when wait times are an issue when visiting to pick up an item; this is overall a GameStop corporate staffing/hours issue and does not reflect upon this...
