JZ Vacation Rentals — Attraction in Maplewood

DON’T USE THIS COMPANY.

Stayed at the Denver Espadin LoHi through this company. Terrible experience, would not suggest. Was not given the code to even get in the building so was let in by random person inside. Got to unit where the code provided in their app did not open the unit door. This resulted in me having to call the support line to try to get them to open the door on their side, because the number they gave over the phone still would not work. After five minutes of the support line trying to remotely unlock the door, it finally worked. The code I received as the booker of the trip, did not work even once on my trip. We then were given the code to the building front door over the phone since it was never provided in the previous communications. Once in the unit, we were worried of that same thing happening again which added stress to the trip. We were in the unit for maybe 20 minutes when the master bedroom door was closed from the living room side, someone previous to our rental must have hit the lock button because we then got locked out of the master bedroom and had to find a toothpick to try to get back in. The following day, the codes we received for the unit from the day prior still would not work. I had to again call the support line to get another code / get the support line to remotely open the door. The support line tried multiple times to open the door from their side, but this failed every time and resulted in them hanging up to get in contact with some IT/maintenance contact. The code that my guest received and the code I received over the phone from support would then variously work after 6-10 times of trying to input in the door system. At this point, we were just trying to avoid leaving the unit because we didn’t know if we’d be able to even get back in. Additionally, the ad for this location says that there is plenty of parking nearby. This is completely untrue as the only parking actually available to the Espadin LoHi is 2 hour parking or a loading zone. The residential street parking is extremely limited a couple blocks away. Don’t book through this company. I reached out with my disappointment and was given the “we’re sorry to hear about that, we’ll do better next time “...

We stayed at "Cozy Family Getaway" here while moving our daughter in to college. The place was lovely, clearly recently updated with well working air conditioning and lot and lots of space. The easy access to streaming was great. The beds are comfortable and the 3rd floor master suite has a portable AC unit in addition to the central air to make sure it stays cool. We did not cook anything so I cannot comment on those amenties. We didn't have enough towels but JZ vacations was great and had housekeeping bring us more towels.

There are a few things that people should know, however. The bathrooms are lovely but the tubs do not have any texture or rubber mats. My daughter slipped and almost fell. We had to put a bath towel down to make sure she didn't slip again. It would be helpful to have something there to keep people from slipping. The staircases are indeed steep and somewhat narrow both to get to the main floor and the 3rd floor. Going to the third floor is also a bit slanted so if you are unsteady on your feet this may not be the place for you. It's not easy to bring suitcases up the stairs. Finally, the laundry facilities are shared with the other unit in the basement requiring you to walk down 2 steep sets of stairs from the main level. This was not clear in the listing. This is not surprising considering it is an older house and having laundry facilites are always helpful, but the listing made it sound like the unit had its own in unit laundry. The basement could use some housekeeping as there were cobwebs. It would also be helpful to have a laundry basket or bag available to carry things up and down. We chose not to bother doing laundry since we luckily had enough clothes until we left. We would definitely stay here again if we needed three rooms but only if we were coming for a short enough time that we didn't absolutely have to do laundry.

JZ vacations themselves are great and do a nice job with the units they rent and are always available to provide timely assistance. We would definitely rent another unit from them...

My review is from the perspective of an investor/landlord. However, flatout, these guys are outstanding at their craft. I can openly admit I have never personally met people that know more about the business of short-term/Airbnb/VRBO property management than the team at JZ Rentals, and I say this as an experienced investor with ownership in over 40 properties, a 10+ years of experience, and being in the business of long-term property management.

Furthermore, it's almost unheard of to find a company that has equally remarkable service when it comes to both guests AND landlord. The biggest reason I have found it difficult to please both parties is because they're typically at odds in terms of economic incentives. HOWEVER, Alex and Nikolai at JZ do in an outstanding job of ensuring investors see a return on their investment by providing insight through the eyes of seasoned-industry experience, and guests can appreciate paying the requested rate when the value and service they receive are so spectacular.
