Learn moreMy boyfriend and I came down from South Florida, for a short get away to the Keys, and heard many rave reviews from friends of ours about the Marathon Mermaid Charters.
We decided on our first charter this past Thursday starting with the Sandbar Experience. Captain Dawn and Brandon showed us a great time. They worked hard and were so personable. The sandbar was gorgeous - we even saw some spotted eagle rays! There were kayaks, paddle boards , and a giant floating pad to lay out on . Good amount of time out on the water too.
We enjoyed it so much- we booked to snorkel the following morning!!
The reef we snorkeled was at Sombrero Lighthouse - which was neat for us because we had never seen a lighthouse free standing in three ocean !
Dawn and Brandon pointed out many neat types of fish for us to see, were helpful with what techniques were best … and my fave part - they brought snacks and refreshments for us to have .
On the way back we even got to go by sea grass and saw sea turtles!!!
You guessed it - if it ain’t broke , don’t fix it …. We figured we may as well book the trifecta. So, we booked the sunset cruise and set sail that evening again too, to put a bow on our trip .
Since we live on the east coast of Florida, we only get sunrises, so sunsets are rare for us - and this one - was EPIC .
We got to start off by touring around Boot Key and seeing all the sailboats that live there….. as well as the bridge to nowhere !!! That was fun to see . Dawn and Brandon had us cracking up with their jokes - and Dawn dancing to the music - kept the fun going and lively . Awesome group of people on the boat then too.
We all got photos during the sunset - and we chose to also add Dawn and Brandon to ours because they were the secret sauce to all the best memories we had on our vacation . Thank you for letting us see the Florida Keys your way!
Highly recommend the Mermaid to anyone coming to the Keys ! I know it’s now going to be part of...
Read moreI’m a local who had a friend visiting from out of town for Memorial Day weekend and he wanted to do a sandbar trip. We already did one in Key West the last time he was here so I decided to take him to Marathon to experience the middle Keys. I read many reviews for different charters but Marathon Mermaid stood out! I went on their website to see if they had any openings for Saturday and they did thank goodness! I easily booked online with ease and waited for the day to arrive. Big shout out to Lisa to keeping me informed through text about the upcoming trip! The day of the trip arrives and luckily we were the last ones to board the boat. I highly recommend getting there 30 minutes early just in case they want to takeoff early! You cannot wear shoes on the boat which is fine but getting on the boat could be hot barefoot so be careful! I will say they did spray it down with water beforehand though. Anyway we had the two coolest captains! Two guys.. I’m bad with names but they were awesome! Kept us laughing the entire time. My favorite part of the trip was meeting Mocha the dog! She’s sooo cute and full of life and loves the water! Seeing her alone was worth the trip! The trip was so amazing! You will get your moneys worth on this trip. The sandbar was great and they also have snacks and drinks on the boat. I will highly recommend them to anyone that likes a fun laidback time. I can’t...
Read moreDon’t hesitate… Book your trip with Marathon Mermaid. We did the reef snorkel with Scott and Allison and couldn’t have asked for a better time! Allison greeted us as we arrived and got our family of four situated with our snorkeling gear and reef safe sunscreen. The boat was spacious and had snacks and drinks available for everyone. The ride to the reef was beautiful, music played, and Allison talked with everyone. One thing that set them above any charter we’ve ever been on is when they noticed garbage in the water and drove over to pick it up. They truly care about the environment and doing their part to keep it clean. Once at the reef we got more instructions and were able to explore for about 2 hours. At a point, Allison got into the water and pointed out animals she saw so everyone was able to locate them as well. I did drink a bit too much saltwater and ofc began vomiting. Allison and Chris were great with helping me get back onto the boat and provided water and ginger ale to help settle my stomach and then I was back in to explore more. This experience was one of our top 3 vacation experiences ever. You won’t regret booking your trip with...
