Calm quiet atmosphere, plenty of places to sit, outside seating with umbrellas, always clean and neat, no overflowing trash, and shelves and napkins are always stocked!
My issue is that this is the slowest Starbucks I've ever been to. I practically lived at the downtown key west Starbucks on Roosevelt next to G.F.S., as a college student living on a boat with no access to wifi, and got to know the employees and how things work behind the counter.
There needs to be better management hereat this marathon location. The poor girls behind the counter are moving so slow that it's took 30 minutes to get 2 simple drinks, and 2 bakery items, half of the order was wrong, there wasn't a massive line when we walked in, and I don't see anyone managing or teaching these girls how to make correct drinks, work around each other during busy times (i.e. not bumping into each other, knowing where utensils are after each other uses it, no sense of how much time has gone by on someone's order, not knowing the seasonal drinks which are literally on the sign right behind them, not looking at the sticker close enough to correctly put the right item in the bag, etc.)
I think here it's an issue of management not training everyone well enough, I can tell at least from my last few visits that there is not a designated experienced barista who is on shift to watch over and correct the small things, some of the new hires don't have a 100% grasp on the English language so they confuse some orders which takes more time to fix and now everything will take more time for the people in line, etc etc.
Definitely room for improvement as far as behind the counter. Everything else is the standard gold star for the building and cleanliness, but the baristas need more training, need to pick up the pace, and pay closer attention to detail.
Not upset, but as locals we can tell that there needs to be better OOMPH at this place. Been here 10 years and this Starbucks is the only one I'm not a HUGE fan of, after half a dozen visits that have been the same issues.
Baristas, you're doing great, it's just you need a little more training and management, and it's probably an issue a little higher up than you guys, but don't be...
Read moreUpdated review, we visited marathon again for Christmas 2023, and visited this Starbucks 3-4 days in a row. Everyday was an unpleasant experience, the female Latino team member on every day was rude, short and was even arguing with staff in front of customers while they waited to order. On our last day visiting here, this same lady who's name I cannot remember, was complaining about my order out loud while she made it and I was only a few feet away, my order was such an inconvenience to her as she was so busy. At the same time she was also having a go at another staff member about how his sister didn't stick around to help enough when they are so busy. NOT conversations for where customers can hear you. It was just so rude and made it uncomfortable waiting and clearly made other staff members uncomfortable too, you could just see it on their faces.
We spoke to the manager who was very apologetic, however each day the manager had been there and did not seem bothered by her behaviour... so I'm not sure if she will do anything. But this staff member made our experience here so unpleasant, and yes, coconut milk is still getting burnt 🤦♀️ Our experience was so unpleasant we will make our own coffee before we leave tomorrow to not come here again.
Review from July 2023: Super cute starbucks with indoor and outdoor seating. However everytime I visited the staff seemed to burn everything, I took back 2 coffees as they were crazy hot and actually tasted burnt. Every time I ordered food, it was like trying to eat lava. Staff were unconcerned. But all in all, it's a good stop just be careful before you eat or...
Read moreNot one to review often but this place deserves one, especially if I can help defer people from this place. Not only are the prices outrageous here but they have at least 7 people working at all times behind the counter but somehow you still wait to be even greeted for what seems like five minutes. Employees are having personal discussions while you stand and wait to be spoken to at the counter with no one else in line. Then you repeat your order four times because they can’t get it right the first three when they repeat it back to you. As if they are actively not trying to listen to you. They also don’t tell you they are out of certain things instead just switch it in your drink (milks). God forbid someone has an allergy and they don’t communicate the switch. Anyway, the aesthetic is very nice but the staff seems to be more concerned about small talk and having attitude with customers and one another. No “hellos, good morning, thank you” nothing. Every customer in the store thought it was a new hire training day or something because of how scattered everything seemed. Do yourself a favor and go to the local Cuban spot and avoid paying for overpriced drinks and horrible...
