I'm kind of surprised this place has 4.5 stars considering the type of "service" I and many others have experienced. Perhaps the reviews are bought and paid for because this is not the case -- AT ALL.
The place is unkept, dirty, and the locker rooms has a stench of mold and mildew the minute you walk in it hits. To make matters worse, the basic amenities promised in their contract seem to never work. You guessed it... hot water. It's not a big deal if it's the middle of summer, but come winter and you will be forced to take cold showers. Their excuse? -- the water needs to be "reset". Whatever that means.
The equipment is also unkept. You have some of the basic equipment you'd find in any gym and boom, they're broken. The good thing is they put a sign but it's kind of sad when the sign remains there for years. I'm not kidding.
Then it's the staff who look like they really don't want to be there. They look like they are under staffed, unhappy, they look exhausted, and seem to be over the whole gig. You even hear the towel boys complaining to the older men who come in there. I even heard some kid asking for a job as he wanted to get out. One hour before they close they start working their tail off to kick everyone out. Every ten minutes they walk by interrupting your workout to tell you how much time is left as if members don't already know. The whole act is very nasty and rude when they could easily make an announcement.
There's a sauna which barely works, and a steam room that smells like mold and mildew. I don't think it's safe to be breathing that in. They also swear to be under construction but that's been happening for over a year now. The act is getting old.
Please please please wipe down everything before using. You'll see dried up sweat stains and skin marks on benches that you shouldn't let your skin touch. Don't drink anything from the bar-- at all.
The dust in there is visible to all, poor air quality, and the floors are very dirty. You would think they would have professional cleaning services in there every now and then.
You can join this gym if you'd like, but know that if a corporate member such as myself who has been to the franchise and corporate gyms with the highest level membership has experienced first hand imagine what a basic membership will be like in the franchise gyms.
Don't even think about going to the Woodbridge location neither. They are worse.
PS -- The only picture in this ad that is actually Crunch Marlboro is the picture of the entrance from outside. The rest is fluff --...
Read moreOverall I've been satisfied with this location of Crunch. However yesterday 6/21/19, they put the worst taste in mouth over how they handle guest privileges. Since I've transferred to this Crunch (I moved from the Florida location) I've never taken advantage of my crunch additional guest free pass. However earlier this week I invited a friend that I train with to attend my gym with me instead of going to pay $10 to enter his gym everytime we train together. So the first day was fine but a few days later (yesterday) I was informed that the additional guest privilege only last one time per guest. So if I have unlimited friends, they can all come with me once but if they come more than once they have to pay $20. Which is ridiculous but you know it's their rules. However I informed the guy that I wasn't informed when I transferred to that gym that the rule had a HUGE asterisk to it compared to what the site says. Either way, still fine. But I also informed him that I've been a Crunch member for years so I would've at least expected him to just waive the fee for that particular day for my friend because it was very clear that I was ill informed on this particular gym rule. But no he charged him $20, which is $5 less than what I pay a month! And I'm not one to take advantage of that so called perk (which it the grand scheme of things, it's a ridiculous perk). But being a member for years should get some type of "okay, well for today I will let him pass but moving forward please remember that your unlimited guest passes is actually limited and it will cost next time") And the unfortunate thing is I go out my way to go to Crunch bc I think so highly of the gym and what you're getting but the most important thing any company can offer is customer understanding and the guy I spoke with + the main girl at the front desk were so not understanding. And as someone who works with all types of people everyday from all parts of the world, I would not have handled that situation the way it was handled. Would I recommend this gym...
Read moreSorry but gotta be honest...horrible customer service i.e your front desk people. If you're going to agree to participate in multi club memberships for folks willing to pay more for Peak Plus you should be willing to facilitate it--and communicate with the other facilities when technical issues (in your own computer system) come up. Not send people away rudely without even TRYING to rectify the problem. This person clearly had no interest in being helpful and just said "you can't be let in" even after I offered to show my receipt for paying for a membership. Yes I signed up at a different Crunch but it was for a PEAK PLUS-i should be allowed to use any facility that isn't a top tier one which this one is not.A good employee in any field would try to figure out what the problem is and do so without being rude. This issue was simple and would have taken a quick phone call to a separate gym to resolve. And even if you can't "fix it" I could care less why not at least show you give two cents by making a call or two. How you can't believe a customer and let them in even after they offer to show a membership receipt when the barcode is not scanning correctly is beyond me.
Planet fitness is not at the same caliber equipment wise but they are much nicer, more helpful, and way more professional! And what they have is plenty for me to accomplish my fitness goals.
Moral of the story: Putting an effort into helping your customers and being patient and professional in the process (in any field) goes a LONG ways...even when you can't fix the problem!! Crunch is recommendable for the equipment but not for the people at least not at this one. Go to somerset or hamilton they are much better
Update: I am happily a black card member once again at Planet Fitness! Never looking back! Good riddance...
