The House of Poké — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

I was so excited to try The House of Pokè! When I was craving pokè and saw there was a location near me, I got so excited. I called and asked if they deliver and they said they would. I made my order and they said it would take approximately 45 minutes! I called around 2:00 and made the order and when 45 minutes passed, I noticed that my order still hasn’t been delivered. I called an hour and 30 minutes after, politely saying that I still haven’t gotten my order and the person who answered was really kind and apologized, she promised she would check in on where the driver is so after that I hung up and I kept waiting, still excited for my pokè. Around 3:57 (an hour and 57 mins since i ordered the food), I called again, this time I was very disappointed and I said I was going to cancel the order if the driver wasn’t here in five minutes. In the next 3 minutes, the driver pulled up and apologized. I really didn’t want to be charged $29 for my food when it took 2 hours to deliver and they told me it would take 45 minutes. Obviously, I was on a time crunch and I just needed to eat my food so I let the situation go but I really wish I said something because this was my first time being a customer at The House of Pokè! I tried the food and my shrimp tempura was soggy because of how long it’s been sitting and the sushi burrito was good but still disappointed that I had to pay after waiting 2 HOURS for my meal! I work hours to make that $30 and I spent it on a meal that didn’t come in the delivery time they promised! Really upset and disappointed. I would love to keep giving The House of Pokè more business because I love pokè and there aren’t that many spots in Jersey but I would definitely not recommend getting...

Recommend: beef bowl (gyu-don), karage bao bun* , poke bowl Good: white peach milk tea, mango tea Ok: sushi burrito

Note: Containers are not microwave safe so keep that in mind if you order something hot and take it home

Karage bao bun gets an asterisk because the chicken was juicy but there wasn't really much batter (maybe just a light dusting of flour?) so if you're looking for a breaded crust on your chicken, this is not it.

I got the beef bowl without the egg and over sushi rice and I think it was my favorite

The sushi burrito looked like all the filling was dumped in the middle and it made everything easy to fall out. The burrito doesn't have any paper wrapping so you have to fight with it to get the bite. I love a sushi burrito but I think it's wiser to go for the bowl. I always support a make your own. While the name on "the spice is right' is very cute, the actual combination was not my favorite.

Portions are good, but a fair number of up charges for different ingredients, I guess because kani (fake crab) is not considered a protein.

The tea was tasty. The white peach definity tasted like real tea and not bubble tea powder but they don't prompt you for sugar level and ice level (on me for forgetting) and it was pretty sweet.

Very hip atmosphere.

Maybe instructions or a sign for what to do with the eat in trays and dishes would be good

Awful Customer Service— I was a fan of the House of Poke but I just had the most experience trying to order take out. The woman on the phone is EXTREMELY condescending and RUDE.

I did not get her name but she answers the phone all the time. I have experienced this before during the height of the pandemic a few months ago but blew it off and give her the benefit of the doubt because of the situation.

Tonight I just tried to order takeout online because I knew how busy they are and because of my previous experience not being able to actually order on the phone, I opted to just go directly on line.

I tried several times to place the order online, however the system would not submit my order and it kept say, Error. I called the House of Poke to explain and again the SAME girl was extremely short, abrupt and rude— she does even let you explain or say anything. Completely talks over you. Just straight up rude.

Totally turn off, we decided to order elsewhere and about 2 hrs later I received a phone call from THE HOUSE OF POKE that our order was ready. ???

Again, it was the same girl— so unprofessional. I Tried to explain to her what happened and asked the order be refunded. Again, wouldn’t even let me speak. Just a complete mess. I’ve called my Credit card company and having a charge disputed. Such an incredibly unpleasant and foul experience. It’s a shame because they were one of our favorite restaurants....
