A few days ago I decided to check out the newly remodeled (actually, still under construction but almost finished) Marysville location. I avidly go to the Evergreen and Mill Creek location. A quarter of the way into my workout a Planet Fitness staff member named Mauricio approached me while Iām in mid set put my mask up above my nose (smug tone and demeanor). Mind you, Iām 6 feet away of anyone in the gym and also when you walk in, it says masks are required. No stipulations on how I need to wear my mask on my face. Obviously a āchin maskā isnāt āwearingā your mask, I get that.
I survey the members and plenty have their mask below their nose, because for one, breathing is super difficult with a mask on doing any physical activity.
So I put my mask above my nose then finish my set after I was rudely interrupted by Mauricio.
My mask goes below my nose after my next set and he approaches me again. Now he āasksā me to leave because I get one warning and then you get kicked out. (Super surprised and taken back) In the manner he asked, more like demanding me to get out, of course I get very very frustrated and get up and have a few choice words and when Iām walking away to the locker room to grab my belongings, he yells out, āsure, do whatever you need to do manā in a smug sarcastic manner. I was definitely not an appreciated member and for him to embarrass me even more in front of all the Planet members is disgusting in itself. Thought this was a judgment free zone? š¤ Is this the first time Mauricio had done this to a long time paying member or had this happened many times before?
As a business owner to several businesses myself, I would NEVER treat a customer in any shape or form like this. EVER.
District manager Dean was there and was super nice and apologized for Mauricioās actions but he shouldnāt have to do that.
I hope there is a strong SOP in place to handler rude employees like this and hope this doesnāt happen to any other members. You definitely donāt want Mauricio harassing other members and for the club to start losing members which in turn loses revenue for the franchise owner.
If you want a wonderful experience with no hassle from gym staff like Mauricio, sign up for LA Fitness (which I have, I have both LA and PF) and STAY AWAY from the Marysville location. Go to the Evergreen or Mill Creek location. They have wonderful staff and no one to brother you about your mask decisions.
I get it, COVID is out there but if youāre going to mandate how specifically members wear their mask, have a corporate, all franchise mandate for planet fitness. Would this be beneficial to your bottom line, maybe not. But test it out and monitor every member in all your franchised clubs and see how many keep their membership. Because you know, society loves to be monitored and micromanaged, especially in their gyms they pay their hard earned money to on a monthly basis š
Take my review anyway you want, I just expressing my experience and recommendation.
I have notified my network about what happened and they are staying away from this club and some have even cancelled their membership.
Who wants to be harassed by this guy in the first place about your mask and also has a attitude when you walk away??? I sure donāt, but it happened. Hope it doesnāt happen to you. I want to enjoy my workout because itās my time to unwind and relax. If this doesnāt happen, it literally ruins your day.
In the end, day was ruined at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis location is the most bizarre on thier planet. They refuse to change their television chanels for customers. During the football playoffs they refused to show the games while more than three chanels were showing infomercials. During the Olympics they refused to show the coverage because as they said the Games were not on Corporate approved chanels. In the meantime on Telemundo they were showing soft porn Novelas. The NCAA Basketball tournament was also forbidden fruit. After complaints to the Corporate H.Q. I was told the policy is not even there's although every Employee from the bottom to the top will insist it is Corporates fault. When I asked the Club Manager insisted that Corporate selected all thier chanels for them. When I told Her I had talked to Corporate they denied having such a hold over thier programming. At that point the Club Manager retracted her statement andsaid it was the Franchise owner who decided the chanels and not allow changing to sports no matter how many people request it. I then requested to speak with the owner and the Manager said he dosent want to talk to customers. I asked for a contact number for him or if I could leave my number for him to contact me, she refused. I don't blame her, I know I wouldn't want my boss talking to anyone if I had provided customer service like that . Now the Stanley Cup and the NBA are going on and it's more of the same. I know a lot of people are not interested in sports but there are plenty of TV's but even the people who never watch college basketball find themselves filling out a bracket at the office. It just seems to me that they make their money wether we go or not. This club feels like they would prefer to use policies like the TV channels to keep us from coming in. I give them one star because I still believe in customer service. I believe in going to a judgment free place ro work out,and I believe any business that doesn't show the Olympics needs thier Patriotism...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI walked in the the Marysville facility,
I asked for a tour and was told to wait the two people behind the counter were quite young adults, and they procrastinated talking between each other about who was gonna have to do. the tour it was kind of awkward.
I waited for about five minutes and then they decided which one was going to give me the tour the young women ended having too give me the tour she gave me an incomplete tour of the gym, I was gonna sign up with her and then she said I could do it online gave me a website told me to make sure I request Marysville.
I came home and I still havenāt done signed up, if she had taken the time to direct me, with my phone and walked me through the sign up process I may be a member, but it didnāt seems to be the gyms process they give tours and send you home to sign up on line. I wasnāt impressed and I havenāt signed up but I have taken time to do a review.
I was impressed with the equipment and what the gym had to offer but I have yet to sign up and she wanted me to make sure that I chose Marysville as the primary, but she was clear the Marysville facility did not offer 24 hours service for any of the packages but other facilities did offer 24 hour service 7 days a week, so I will be sure to join a facility that does offer 24 hour service 7 days a week and not just selected days as my primary gym and I will use Marysville if I choose to join as a alternative.
I will join a gym this coming week, just need to find the right one for me.
Again the gym looked nice, I didnāt get a tour of the bathroom, or even know if they have an aerobic room.
The parking is okay, tight spots.
Both employees seemed friendly just not interested in giving a tour at the moment I walked in. They might enjoy the job but they did make me feel like I was imposing on their conversation when I walked in asking for a tour, they both reminded me of a deer with headlight....
