Alright folks, strap in because I'm about to take you on a flavor rollercoaster that'll make your taste buds do the bhangra!
I stumbled upon this hidden gem of an Indian restaurant called "R & R" tucked away in a cozy corner of the city. Let me tell you, this place is more explosive than a pressure cooker full of dal!
The moment I walked in, I was hit with a wave of aromatic spices that made my nose do a happy little Bollywood dance. The decor? Think Mumbai street market meets your cool uncle's man cave - vibrant, eclectic, and somehow just perfect.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. Holy curry, Batman! I ordered the butter chicken, and let me tell you, it was so good I almost proposed to the chef (don't worry, I restrained myself... barely). The chicken was more tender than my ego after a roast battle, and the sauce? Creamy, spicy, and more layered than my excuses for skipping leg day.
But wait, there's more! The garlic naan was so fluffy and buttery, I'm pretty sure it winked at me from across the table. And don't even get me started on the mango lassi - it was like a smooth talker in a glass, minus the cheesy pick-up lines.
The service at R & R was top-notch too. The waiter was friendlier than a Labrador with a new tennis ball and more attentive than my grandma during a family gossip session. He even chuckled at my terrible attempts at pronouncing the menu items (Palak Pa-what-now?).
To top it all off, the prices were so reasonable, I checked my bill twice to make sure they didn't accidentally give me the kids' menu. Spoiler alert: they didn't.
In conclusion, if you don't visit R & R, you're basically committing a crime against your taste buds and depriving yourself of a flavor fiesta. Five stars, two thumbs up, and one very happy, slightly rounder food critic...
Read moreWhat a hidden jewel in plain sight! A Northern India cuisine and prepared by one of the most humble person you will have the pleasure talking too . We sampled a vegetarian samosa appetizer nice and crisp outside and full of flavor inside. The made from scratch garlic Nan was so delicious and very soft that is perfect to scoop up the meals that have gravy type sauce, which was the chili chicken. What I really appreciated was the courtesy of being asked what level of spice I wanted my food. I had the 4 out of 5 spice level and it was perfect. We ordered the lamb kabab and it was blended nicely with different spices to create an explosion of flavor on our tastebuds. We also ordered a rice entree, chicken biryani, to truly try the level of their preparation of the foods and we were not disappointed. The rice was perfectly cooked with the right amount spice . We capped it off with a dessert, mango kulfi(ice cream) that is also made in house. It was a perfect end to a wonderful meal. Go by and visit with Mr. Luthra and let him share a bit of Northern...
Read moreTried this place for the first time today for a to-go order, I ordered Chicken Tika Masala (medium spicy) and it was PERFECTION with the garlic naan bread. We ordered some chicken Biriyani(medium spicy option) too and it was very good as well as the appetizer (assorted 8 piece). We really loved the veggie pakora and the samosa. I will say the chicken appetizer was just a little bit dry but I'm sure it was because I had to drive over an hour home to Harlingen before eating. The food was packed so well, though, that it was still quite hot when I got home!! The flavor was excellent and the perfect amount of spice for us. Great customer service and our large to-go order was ready in a very reasonable time frame. In LOVE with this Chicken Tika Masala and customer service and we will make it a point to order from them again! The commute from Harlingen is worth it, and small family businesses especially need support right now so we will enjoy their food as often as we can. Highly recommend! I'm off to finish this Tika masala and...
