I visited La Concheria, located on North 23rd Street about two blocks north of Nolana. This establishment not only makes a South Texas staple they embellish them. First, I must admit that I was never a big concha fan, too much like bread. Until I tried La Concheria!! The Concha here is super airy, I could sleep with them as my pillows. They have a variety to choose from. They have mini conchas too, great for the office or meetings. On my first visit I tried the chliquila original style with no meat. There was a choice of red or green sauce. I opted for the red, very tasty. I really liked the simplicity of the plate, and the way the flavors come together for a genuine palette pleaser. On my first visit I ordered coffee and I liked the milk service for my coffee, the owner let me try a special South Texas brew he had going, pretty darn good. On my last visit I took my wife to try it out, unfortunately the coffee experience was completely different, the coffee was super bitter, And the milk service was gone. I tried to fix our coffee as best I could. We ended up tossing it out on the way out untouched. It happens, I'll still...
Read moreThis place has no seating. There was a line out the door and like 5 tables! No order whatsoever! People were claiming tables and people who paid 50 bucks plus have nowhere to sit!? At least have a rule that you can't hold tables unless you already have paid! Yea ok, they have s'more conchas, great! But it's no good if you can't eat there because some person who is waaaaaay in the back of the line, has plopped her and her kid at the table and prohibited you from sitting. Will I be back? No. Also there's no olla coffee, or expresso. 9/10/24 Response to response- *When I went there was no coffee or expresso. You guys told me there was none as you were short handed. My reviews are fair and unbiased, I have years of giving honest reviews. The smores concha wasn't all that either it was just a regular concha that yall put a marshmallow on top of. I wanted to have a good breakfast, I should have went to El Itacate. But I will return and edit my review...

Only thing was the green salsa it tasted and looked like the store bought and mostly like if it was plain green tomatillos. The cajeta pecan concha filled with cream cheese was delicious. The concha was soft and warm and the filling was delicious and creamy. But my favorite part of all was the cafe de olla! Smooth, rich and the piloncillo and canela do stick out. Overall great food. The area it's nice and cozy but does get packed and that's where the work begins. The service needs to be faster and more accurate and the delivery system to the table needs some efficiency and redoing since the waiters seem to get lost plus customers don't really help not putting their numbers on a visible spot for the waiters. Overall great food and great...
