If my Aussie was rating this it would probably be 5 stars without a doubt. The park is divided into two sections for bigs and littles, offers plenty of running space, benches, doggie bags are always on hand, there is a water fountain made for them, and the grass is finally coming in nicely. It's great to have a place where they can actively burn off so much energy and meet new friends. Overall, I appreciate that McAllen has offered a place where my dog can socialize with others. I know he loves every trip we make out there. What I don't love is how from time to time, there are many ignorant people who feel it is acceptable to bring in their toddlers and kids and allow them to run at their own free will and then expect our pets to not want to actively engage in playing back with them. This is a dog park, not a petting zoo. For the safety of others and our pets, I would suggest that if you DO decide to bring your kids, teach them proper etiquette when dealing with animals and have them sit at...
Read moreI started going to this park a year ago when I adopted my dog a terrier/mix. People had told me that this was the only Dog Park in the RGV so I decided to go try it out. All the people are very friendly and dog lovers. The dog park has great sized play areas. The park has two sections one for under 25 pounds and over 25 pounds. It has doggie water fountains and human water fountains. Also it has a dog waste station in both areas. Benches for the owners and it is fenced in great so their is no way for your dog to get out.At the front they have board so that you can put flyers or posters up. At night they have lights so that you can see. I reccomend this dog park to anyone who wants their dog to get socialized or just to go watch...
Read moreThis is the only dog park in the area that I know of. It's a great size to have the doggos get some running and play time. I like the division of weight ;there's a section for dogs 25lbs and below and another for dogs 25lbs and up. The place is generally clean and I've seen most owners clean up after their dogs. But the park could use some upkeep. I agree with the bench situation. There's not a whole lot of benches for owners to sit. I usually take a chair with me and find a good spot while I watch my furbaby. Most owners I've encountered have been friendly. I'd recommend this spot for dog owners just bring plenty of water and if you wish to...
