Grivet Outdoors — Attraction in Memphis

Good afternoon,

On Sunday, shortly after church, I noticed your Goodman Road store from the street and decided to go in and check out your goods. I walked in to a really pleasant environment and shared with the customer service rep. there that I was looking to purchase a new pair of comfortable running shoes. Comfort was/is KEY!

As I began to look around, I also informed the young lady (Tanisha) who was assisting me that I was preparing for the St. Jude half-marathon, and training was a huge part of getting ready. I also walked in knowing exactly which shoe I was looking for, which made the process a lot easier. A week prior, I had joined a running group at Breakaway Running to train, and shortly after, spoke with the store rep who told me that it was imperative that I purchase a pair of shoes besides the current Nike cross-training pair that I was wearing.

Fast forwarding my story, Tanisha (the sales rep.) spent almost an hour assisting me with trying on, sizing, and even watching me PACE UP AND DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE STORE (how cool!) to ensure that I was investing in the perfect pair.

Needless to say, I’m on day two with my new HOKA’s and I absolutely feel as though I’m running on a cloud! I'll be back for hiking boots.

The only interaction I've had with Grivet outdoors has been through Amazon, and it was a horrible experience. I placed an order a month ago for a pair of running shoes in size 10.5, and they arrived size 10. "No big deal," I thought, "mistakes happen." Except, after two days of concertedly trying to get a hold of someone to help me sort things out and receiving no response (I still haven't heard back from them in any form) I started getting a bit angry, and initiated the return process and sent them back the day before I travelled to Cuba for two weeks. (why I was buying the shoes in the first place, and why there was some urgency involved) Thinking that was the end of it, I arrived back home 23 days after I'd returned the shoes, to see that they'd never refunded the purchase despite having received the shoes two weeks prior.... and Amazon customer service wound up giving me a gift card for the amount, so Grivet Shitdoors never actually did a single thing to resolve any of my complaints. So, who knows, maybe they aren't a bunch of incompetent nitwits in person, but never, EVER order anything from them...

My feet have always been oddly shaped, making it difficult to find shoes. They are really wide by the toes. The guy manning the store immediately recommended some Altra zero drop running shoes with a super wide toe box. They fit perfectly. I know right away if shoes will work for me. They didn't have the color I wanted in stock, but they ordered them and I received them in a few days. They are still comfortable and holding up a year later. I think they were the same price or maybe a bit cheaper online, but nothing beats trying on shoes and knowing you got the right size. Plus the satisfaction of supporting local business. I'm really excited to hear of their plans for expansion. Grivet is a great small store, they seem to focus on...
