Quality of the room we did was really bad. We have done multiple escape rooms in different countries but this was the worst one we did. There wasn't really any story. It was mostly just simple puzzles all following up on eachother. Solve one puzzle and get a new one to solve. The puzzles didn't have anything to do with eachother. There were a lot of false clues in the room. Like price stickers on furniture that weren't removed. Some puzzles didn't even really work the way they were supposed to work. With one of the puzzles there were lines on the wall that we thought were telling us wich order we had to use for our answers but they probably didn't even think of this as it wasn't correct. Overall it was just a bunch of puzzles you would expect in a Donald Duck magazine and where you would think they thought of something that would make a good puzzle it wasn't really the case and they probably made it look like it was a better puzzle on accident. I think this is just a company that makes a lot of escape rooms to make money on the fact that escape rooms are populair right now. We also had to sign a contract that would give them permission to use our pictures for anything they would want, it was not an option to not agree to this if you wanted to do the escape room. Low quality puzzles, low quality theming of the room and the people that were working there didn't show any interest in our experience with the room we played. They didn't even asked if we enjoyed it. Oh, and the picture they took isn't on the website. Probably because we didn't have a big smile and acted weird, because we like to make weird pictures sometimes :P If you have any chance to visit a different escape room I would advice to not go here, especially if it would be your first escape room this would give a really bad idea of what a good escape...
Read moreWe have now tried 3 of the escape rooms here, and really liked them all! The hosts are friendly and informative; the rooms are immersive and reasonably challenging. I really like reading reviews of individual rooms, so here’s what I got for you:
We tried Lost Pyramid first, and really liked it except for one tough puzzle that we couldn’t understand even with help. The atmosphere is great, with some cool surprises. Overall, would recommend. We tried Jester’s Revenge next, and it was a blast. The theme was cool, and there was a great variety of puzzles. I would say the “surprise” factor is low on this one, but overall it’s still very enjoyable and has one very memorable puzzle. When we escaped Jester’s Revenge, a team member (can’t remember her name - so sorry!) encouraged us to come back and try their newest room: Shipwreck Cove. She said it was the most immersive room by far, and she was NOT wrong. It’s easily the best room we’ve done here so far. The immersion? A+. The surprise factor? A+. The puzzle variety? A+. SO fun. Everything I love about escape rooms is featured in this room. Highly recommend.
So, yes, Memphis Escape Rooms deserves 5 stars. I will absolutely be returning in the very near future for more escapes....
Read moreI’ve done all of the rooms and I love this place!! Even going back years, I’ve never had a bad experience here, especially now that they’re private rooms.
My friend and I have done over 35 escape rooms at different companies, all over the country, and I have to say that Memphis Escape Rooms are the best with a good margin. I love the rooms, the staff, and the merch.
All the rooms have solid themes with good decor and music, everything works well, and the game gods pay attention and are always ready to help out or throw a joke in.
These are a bit more expensive than other options here, but the experience (not to mention significantly better locations) are worth it. Especially since it’s private. I’ve done the other brands within 30-45 minutes and they just don’t work.
Shadow Manor is I think the oldest room, and while it has some sticky spots, it’s still 100x better maintained and operates better than the new ones at the other local places I’ve been to. The closest experience wise is in Nashville.
I love the founders club, too, the passport is worth it for that!
Plus, Amuse is just down the street and has the same quality of experience and staff. This is a goldmine local attraction and I hope they add more rooms...
