AMAZING!! At last I feel like the search is over...I have been looking for a stylist that can cut my curls and offer suggestions on how to care for them as well. My previous stylist, after coloring and cutting my hair would always blow it and flat iron it straight. It looked and felt good, but over the years my hair has suffered damage from coloring, wrong products, and a general lack of knowledge on how to properly care for my curls. Recently, I started reading about curly girl methods and I was overjoyed to find a salon that was recommended for curly hair. I was a little skeptical and read a ton of reviews before making my appointment. Kayla was my stylist and is WONDERFUL! My curls were so dried out and damaged. After some serious pampering, my hair feels amazing and looks so much better. I know it will take a little while to repair the damage done to it, but when I saw that my curls were not gone and saw how pretty they looked, I teared up and was so emotional because I had forgotten how beautiful my curls were. Thank you Kayla so very much and all the staff at Great Lengths that stepped in. Everyone works so well together and it does feel like family! Now as far as price goes...it was pricey, but I had a conditioning treatment, highlights weaved in, a Deva cut and left with DevaCurl products. So, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Two weeks ago I had a first time appointment scheduled with Caitlin. She however came down with the flu the week of my appointment. I received a prompt courtesy call to notify me and was given the option of either rescheduling for a later date, or being scheduled for the following day with another equally experienced stylist. I opted to just see another stylist, since this would be my first time ever going there I wasn’t too particular on what stylist I had. I ended up being scheduled with Paula. She was very professional and courteous upon meeting me. During the consult she asked lots of questions about when my last cut was, what I liked about my previous cut, what I didn’t like, and what my goals are pertaining to my hair. She followed with questions about the products I was currently using and how I was using them. After discussing my concerns from my previous cut and what I would like to achieve she was very upfront with what she felt we could accomplish during my visit. Unfortunately the stylist who cut my hair last left me with SEVERAL uneven areas all throughout my hair. Paula did an AMAZING job on correcting as many of the uneven layers, as well as giving me an actual shape to my hair that I love! She educated me in depth on my curls and what they need to stay looking their best, and even sent me home with an educational DVD. My hair is curly. 2C/3A, textured and naturally coarse, medium length. I have been following the Curly Girl method for about a month, and I wanted a haircut that enhanced the natural shape of my curls and hands-on instruction on how to style my hair. Maribel was absolutely wonderful. So personable and kind, and she really took the time to get to know me and my hair on a personal level. She took my product standards into account when choosing products to use on my hair, and I do not feel she pushed products or treatments in a forceful or unnatural way. She took her time showing me the techniques necessary for my hair type, and she was very knowledgeable in addressing my questions and concerns. The whole process took approximately 1.5 hours, and I was able to return to work the same afternoon. My hair when I left the salon was definitely curlier, and it felt clean, soft, and bouncy. These curls lasted four days without the need to be refreshed. After washing my hair on my own, my hair was also curlier, and my hair was notably softer and more bouncy. I really believe the cut makes all the difference, especially combined with the correct techniques.
