Great location and has potential to be an amazing park, but it fell short of my expectations. Driving by, the basketball hoops closest to the road caught my attention. I was disappointed when I actually approached them up close, they were recently moved and now the lines don't match up and full court would be impossible. Only two of 4 hoops are 10ft and they are on a downhill slope, not ideal. Surface is great and with a little work and maintenance, these could be two very high quality full courts. There are 4 more hoops near the playground.. only usable full court.. but the hoops are 8.5 ft at best :( and one side is horribly uneven.. again .. resources present to be awesome but poor execution. Walking, biking trail was really nice, walked the whole park. There was only one covered picnic area in this massive open space park, another miss.. either needs to have more trees for shade or picnic shelters to be more functional IMO. I saw two small playground areas both geared for the very young, nothing to appeal to older kids or adults playing with their kids. This park could be amazing but needs to be planned and...
Read moreI love Heroes Park. I'm biased since I've grown up beside it, but I've watched the park change over the years and it has always just improved and improved. From the mile markers all along the path, to the second basketball court, to the expanded parking lot, the owners are so thoughtful and take such good care of the place. Always have. The park has a massive field for soccer season, and is always well-mowed and watered. The playground is a little on the small side, but the owners are always quick to fix broken equipment, and the pond is always full of fish for people to come and catch them. Also for all the years I've lived here, never once have the bathrooms been dirty....
Read moreAnother decent park. As a wheelchair user I must say: they're are a Dr event amount of handicap spots BUT people in cars take the doors Vans Ramps need. BIGGER issue is the lack of curb cuts being the handicap parking areas to access the park. They did build one between basketball hoops but there isn't another spot to get onto the grass until they're parking spot area. This is more than a nit folks . . . It's difficult for wheelchair users, folks pushing or pulling others, and a huge energy waster for folks needing access over a curb. Nice park and facilities but get some design/retrofit help to make this accessable park REALLY...
