I was in Staten Island and was craving for good sushi when I found this place on Google that was only 20 mins away from the Staten Island mall. It has great reviews so I decided to try it out and it was worth every penny and the drive!!!
There were plenty of parking at the rear of the restaurant when we dined in for lunch during the week. Upon walking up to the door, we read the sign for all you can eat for $27.95 during the week so my husband and I opted for that option
We were greeted and seated right away. The all you can eat option comes with two pieces of paper to mark our desired food items - one for the Sushi Bar and the other for the Kitchen.
Both menus offer wide arrays of choices. The Sushi Bar menu had sashimi, Sushi, regular rolls and special rolls to pick from. The Kitchen menu has apps like soups, salads, tempura and even desserts! They also have noodles and teriyaki.
The portions from the all you can eat option are significantly smaller than their regular menu items but it worked out perfect because we wanted to try everything! For example, if you get the fried calamari, you will only get two pieces. For the sashimi, you will get half (or smaller) of a normal piece. The Sushi is pretty standard but the fish maybe a little thinner. The rolls were served in the typical sizes. The benefit of the sample sizes helped us order what we actually enjoy for the second (or third) round!
One thing that I want to point out is how FRESH the fish were! Even though they offer an all you can eat menu, the quality of the fish is top notch. They use the same ingredients from the regular menu. The kitchen items did not dissapoint either especially the tempuras and teriyaki dishes. I want to also mention that their matcha green tea and chocolate ice cream are delicious! They were creamy and flavorful.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed all the food except for maybe the yaki udon as it lacked wok heat. Nevertheless, we highly recommend this hidden gem and will be...
Read moreEdit: posted a year ago but i STILLL COME HERE FOR AYCE.
I'm a sushi fiend and I've come here almost every other week so far and I've never had a bad experience.
It's about $30 per person and I've tried other AYCE, all-you-can-eat, like Sakana, yayoi, sushi palace(s), etc. and I believe (w my whole chest 😤) this place is the TOP-TIER AYCE in terms of consistency, quality, and variety.
The fish here tastes FRESH with no weird aftertastes and NOT watered down. The miso soup is reallllyyy good here, it doesn't taste artificial, sweet, or bitter. Only at this place, i become a misosoupaholic w/ 3-4 bowls every visit.
I'm also not a kani/crab fan but it's pretty good here too.
There are a lot of special rolls that are cooked/fried/tempura'd if you don't like raw fish.
Personally, I stick to two specials with soybean paper that mainly have whole fish and mango. Their sashimi and regular rolls are ALWAYS good(although I once made the mistake of ordering squid thinking it was octopus, they're NOT the same).
The salmon is their best fish here, so salmon sashimi and Alaska rolls are a go-to. You should try out their red snapper and white tuna sashimi too.
They also have LOTS of good non-sushi foods available in their AYCE: diff. soups n salads, shumai, sesame chicken, teriyaki, lo mein, calamari, takoyaki, crab rangoons etc. I have some friends who don't like seafood but they still get the AYCE.
For sweets, usually a miso soup is my dessert, but their red bean and matcha icecreams are good too.
The place itself is always clean, the staff do their best and are super patient, polite, and attentive, so bless all the workers.
ONE THING TO NOTE, if you come here with a party of 5 or more, you will be charged a 15% service fee.
If you got through this whole review, you can tell this is one of my most favorite restaurants but TRUST I'm not biased. Most new places I try turn out disappointing and I always turn...
Read moreFirst time writing any comments because I’m furious about the experience we had at East Hana. Went to get AYCE on Friday night, took us 3 hours to finish the whole meal. Here’s what happened: we went in when there’s only two empty tables left, and two parties including us are waiting. Don’t know why it took them so long to decide there’s two empty tables and we could all just sit down right away. Instead, we waited 40 min standing awkwardly near other people’s tables bc the place doesn’t have any waiting area. But we were tired and doesn’t want to change place. When we finally got the table, we ordered right away but it took them soooo freaking long to prepare ANY food. We waited an hour for a freaking small plate of Edamame. Then another 40min to get our sushi, just in time when we are almost starving to death. The food is just mediocre - the kind of quality you can get in every AYCE, some are even worse bc you can tell the sushi is made under hurry. The roll was falling apart when you pick it up. The waiters are slow, and kitchen is slow and we got no apologizes at all like this has always been the way. We saw every table waiting and everyone is bored. All in all, probably bc we happened to dine in at a busy night but I would never go back again. Such a...
