Latin Port — Restaurant in Metuchen

I mainly always get the same dish yellow rice with pork and sweet plantains, it never missed. But it's been a couple of months since I've been there and when I went back today I ordered the same dish and I realized that the prices went up and they also changed up how they make the plantains not a big deal on how it's made but still noticeable and the pork was a bit salty. Now on to the pricing, it is roughly $22 after tax for a large which I feel is a bit much but what really was noticeable was the convenience fee they added on to the bill. The employee was trying to process everything quickly so I couldn't see the break down but when I saw it I asked her and she responded a little rudely "it's on the wall" pointing at the wall and walking away. Now I can understand if the business wasn't doing good but this business gets a lot of traffic always has customers never empty so I don't understand why they want to tack on a convenience fee when they can afford. Overall they get 3 stars because more is coming out of customers pockets than it should.

Update: After receiving a even more rude response from the owner I now give this fast food spot a 1 star for being unprofessional over a review. And $22 dollars for a meal with no drink which by the way will cost you roughly $5 that is only 8oz and is their large cup for one person. But if you want to conduct yourselves with rude and unprofessional people by all means go there. If not there are other and better authentic true restaurants that will provide you with better love and respect and that won't tack on a convenience fee in New Brunswick which is only...

We Have eaten here twice in the last month. It is a totally new restaurant serving a variety of Latina inspired dishes. Their food is really fresh and the environment is clean and bright. There are only a number of tables that you can sit on the place is not that big. There is a window counter where I sat with the fam. I only gave four stars because I've tried many of these dishes in different places. They have everything from tacos to pork ribs and rice. The meat is well seasoned and you have a choice of pork, chicken, beef or fish. They have yellow rice and white rice as well as a variety of beans. The empanadas are amazing! They are Costa Rican empanadas and they have a different crust than the average Cuban or Puerto Rican empanada. I would highly recommend these. The white rice I enjoyed a lot more than the yellow rice. The black beans which I had were flavorful but not thick like Cuban or Puerto Rican beans.

The staff and service were very accommodating and willing to tell the customers what the different meals were. They have a very delicious roasted Peruvian chicken, and beef stew. They are willing to give you samples so that you can try which is great!

They sell fresh tamarind, passionfruit or lemonade as well as a variety of Mexican sodas. It's a great place for Latino comfort food. I would recommend that if you are in Metuchen, New Jersey you give them a try.

We were in the area last weekend and my husband picked this place. We didn’t know that this place has “cafeteria” style. The food is already cooked (most of it), so portions wise they have 3 size small, medium and large plate for dine in also as to go container. At first my husband and I wanted to order Peruvian food (lomo saltado and rotisserie chicken) but once we saw how was the food look like we’re both changed our mind and tried something else. The food that we got is tasty and full of flavors. I ordered 2 items to go, costarican stew and sancocho they were good but the sancocho too salty for my taste. Next time we’re back in the area we might’ve try some other menu. Also the front of the house lady (didn’t get her name) that was helping us was friendly.

Decided to go back today for take out just for the costarican stew (see the last two pictures I attached with the receipt) For medium size cups (16oz) that barely anything in it they charged me almost $8 😵‍💫 only 2 chunks of beef and the rest was carrots and a bit of broth.
