Miami Shores Recreation Department — Attraction in Miami Shores

This is the spring training home of the Spartans, a youth football team on which my grandson is participating. At first I needed guidance to the correct field, there are a several set up for soccer and one with football goalposts, and diamonds as well. There are well-kept hard tennis courts, basketball hoops and a children's playground. Found someone who worked at the park who helped. I didn't go inside any of the buildings, one of them contained equipment that was lavishly provided. Located the right coaches and players. There is plenty of room to execute drills of every type. The coaches are skilled at teaching the fundamentals of football. There is a shady bench outside of the fence, convenient for observing, eating and drinking. Best yet, an ideal place for train-spotting, smack dab along the Florida East...

Therapy for the weary mind and soul! Soccer Sundays are the best! Cheers to the best pitch around!!

Yeah, I would have to change this statement. It's 2024, and the Shores pitch has turned to a rather agricultural type of surface. If it was not for the memories of the past time, it would be hard to give any type of thumps up for the crew that maintains this once glorious pitch.

Fingers crossed for the Village of Miami Shores to come to their senses soon!

Additionally, Mother Nature sometimes does have a sense as to when help is needed and 2025 seemed to bring enough water to help grow in the patches of sand....

I hadn’t been to the park in a while because the condition of it was so horrible. I brought my grand daughter there today. I am most happy to report that it was much cleaner. The reason for only 3 stars: the playground equipment is on dire need of major power washing. And the bathroom was locked. There needs to be some supervisor there to lock and unlock the bathroom and or provide the combination (some how) as well as supervise the safe use of equipment. Otherwise, there is one new Dinosaur see saw type item which all the children loved and much of the turf has been replaced or...
