The Moment I Opened the Hotel Door in Miami, I Knew I Made the Right Choice

ok so first you can valet for 40 but i paid 50 to park across the street. supposed bridge to the hotel from parking garage but you just get dumped in a mall but its not even a mall, its like the offices of a mall and thats even worse than a mall. there was a lot of fake grass with holes in it in part of the bridge and plywood underneath and if you stand on it you will fall through the bridge. and its a lot easier to just walk across the street than get dumped in the mall offices. escalator in mall broken. elevator kind of hidden. had to stop around with a bunch of stuff i was carrying and a blood nose. when family told me i had a blood nose i was irritated. who wouldn't be? was carrying so much stuff i couldn't do anything about it. was trying to sing guns n roses in the elevator and was interrupted by family saying i have blood nose. what am i supposed to do about it? i have a lot of stuff. the view over biscayne bay is fantastic. you can see and hear all the ships. people. skateboarding ladies. silverware. there was a stingray and a bull shark in that water. there was a kid with a back to the future shirt down there. best part of the balcony was the water disposal pipe that empties into a restaurant below. if you're done drinking, pour the rest of that baby down the pipe and listen for screams. be careful if you walk up the white staircase next to the waterfall staircase by the restaurant thing because you will end up in a restaurant. you try to leave and end up in that mall again and you try to call wife but you don't have service and she's stomping around really mad. they have a starbucks there. they have a store with glittery things. this mall stays open unusually late. so if you need to buy some twizzlers at 11 pm, it is not a problem at all. rooms are nice. i like tile floors in hot places. i like the windows all around. corner room are best, most windows. can see the most ships that way. i saw a cruise ship. there are a lot of party boats in them water. pretty sure you could sneak through the gates onto the pier and get on a party boat. just wear all white to blend in so you don't stick out like blue shirt guy or red shirt guy. liked the rain shower head but could have been higher up. bathroom ceiling a little low. double sinks great idea, don't mind if i do! we spread our stuff everywhere, you should have seen it. counters covered in stuff. our stuff. cleaned quickly though, surprised about that. make sure if you send keys to someone they activate it within 8 hours or they might get stuck in the elevator. i would not suggest eating an entire bag of sriracha popcorn and a bunch of cheezits. seems like a good idea while you're doing it but you're gonna pay. tried to sleep on balcony, was not as comfortable as i suspected. ships nice to watch as i peeked over the railing. this hotel should add comforters so if you want to sleep on the balcony you can and if you want to pee you can probably go right into that drainage pipe. there was a hair in the bidet and it was a long black hair. i was wondering why butt hair was so long. was not going to use bidet but now felt very uncomfortable. see attached picture. lot of hair in bed and shower. might be a bald housekeeper running around that place looking for that hair. you left it in this room. overall, pretty good. good place, good room, good windows.

Update: The corporate office has stepped up where Thalia and management has failed and done right by the customer. All I'd requested was the wasted 33,000 points that were used on the standard property. Corporate office honored the 25,000 points that were offered, and refunded 50% of the stay as they agreed that a room that does not securely lock and has holes in the wall should not be booked out. Original: The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel is that the Primos Italian restaurant in the lobby is absolutely amazing. I believe Chris was our waiter and he did a great job always ensuring our drinks were full and our table cleared of empty dishes. Top notch service. Now... To the hotel... From check in to checkout it was nothing but problems. I used the virtual check in option so I could go straight to the room and begin our weekend. However I was promptly informed I was required to go to the front desk for verification. At first I figured ok, I used the AAA card and they want to confirm the membership.. yet I asked if they wanted to see it when I went, and the women said no, it's not needed. Then they informed me that the 9th floor balcony bay view room I'd booked was not an option and they put me on the 6th floor with an obstructed view behind one of the restaurants. When we got to the room I went to go get ice and quickly learned the 6th floor ice machine did not work.. however, since you needed you room key to utilize the elevator I had to go all the way back to my room on the other side of the building to get my key, to begin wondering the hotel to find an ice machine. This wouldn't have been a problem had I been on the 9th floor like I'd booked. Finally we got to our room and initially it seemed nice. However, the longer we were there, the more issues we realized.. To begin with, the security latch on the front door looked as if it has previously been kicked in. If someone were to push the door, the latch would undoubtedly fail. The sliding glass door to balcony would not close all the way and therefore could not be locked. The mirror to the sliding closet door was severely bent and cracked and the furniture was warped, rotted and completely scratched up and holes in the walls. These are issues that you would expect at an $80 a night motel 8, not a $400+ per night "Grand Hotel" by a Hilton.. Then the manager, Thalia, turned around to offer 15% off or 15,000 points back. Considering I used 33,000 points to reduce my total for the stay and the single night still came out to almost $400, I feel the least Thalia could have offered would have been to return the 33,000 points that were wasted on her poorly kept property.

After seeing bedbugs inside our king suite I took a picture and video and showed it to the front desk. I even caught the bedbug and placed it inside a glass. The hotel housekeeper stated they had another complaint of a bedbug inside another room after we asked. However, after showing the front desk manager Thalia, she acted like she still didn’t believe us and asked if we had opened our luggage prior to seeing this bedbug (insinuating that we possibly came with them.) we advised the front desk manager Thalia that we had pictures and video but if we could be accommodated, I would not give any bad reviews and would not mention this issue. However, she stated I could do what I wanted to do with the pictures but they had to investigate the issue and have a professional come to check the room even after housekeeping told us it was a bedbug. The wife and I still stated ok, but we all know at this counter, that this is a bedbug on this video. The manager Thalia asked for me to send the video and pictures to her email and that someone would call us and email us back but nothing could be accommodated at that moment. The manager Thalia then stated we was not suppose to even get the 50% off of the room that the first desk personal (Melissa) ended up giving us but because ( Melissa…. Which was very nice during this) stated she would see if we could get 50% off and that was the only reason we got 50% off. I sent Thalia the video and pictures several times and was only told someone would contact me back. We advised her that we were from out of town but Thalia continued to still not be very helpful in making this issue have a satisfying day ending. We ask if she could give us some accommodations and she stated not at that time. So we ask when would we expect to hear something and she stated they would call or email. It’s been a week and we haven’t heard anything. As regular visitors, Hilton honor members this was a very disappointing and dissatisfying experience at this hotel and we were almost looked at like we came with this issue. We do not look for anything to be feee or try to lie to get anything free. We book our rooms with Hilton on every family trip, vacation, business trip and just use Hilton hotel everywhere we go. I gave this Hilton a 1 star because they did not try to accommodate even after I stated I would not give a bad review if we could resolve that issue right at that moment. They didn’t resolve it and we still haven’t received any updates, calls or emails.

Oh, where do I even begin? My family and friends were invited to this exquisite wedding ceremony and event at the doubletree by Hilton and Brisa on the Bay—what a delightful choice! Our day began in such a charming manner, only to turn into a comedy of errors. I mean, for a mere $400 a night, we were treated to a lovely stay on the 8th and 9th floors, complete with all the humidity issues you could dream of and an occasional whiff of something... well, let's just say it wasn't exactly a bouquet of roses. Missing sheets and some basic necessities? Just a quirky little touch to enhance the experience! After the event, when we returned to our "luxurious" room around midnight, we had the brilliant idea to contact the front desk about our missing sheets, towels, and pillows. Their response? Oh, just a little jaunt down to the lobby to fetch them ourselves—because who doesn’t love a midnight stroll? Apparently, for $400 a night, you get to be your own housekeeper. And let’s not forget our culinary adventure! Trying to order food? Ha! Only available for lobby pick-up unless you're willing to shell out a whopping $20 for eight wings or a halo sandwich that was charred to perfection. Gourmet dining at its finest, folks! Now, the valet parking—what a treat! I was graciously overcharged for parking my oversized GMC truck. The room was booked under my wife and me, but they somehow registered our second vehicle as a guest. So, what’s the grand total for one night? A mere $200! A steal, really! And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, they misplaced one of our vehicle keys, leaving us to wait for almost an hour. Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime experience in South Florida. Next time, I’ll definitely remember to read the reviews before booking—because who wouldn't want to stay close to the bridal party in a place like this? Never again will we darken their doorstep. To anyone reading this, proceed with caution. And do check your bill closely because this place will definitely lighten your wallet! 😡
