I really hoped to give this eatery a higher rating, especially sincethis was my first time here. I'm definitely torn to have to give them only 3 stars instead of 5. 😔 But by the end of my review you'll understand.
I'm going to write this in two parts. My first visit was so horrible that I thought it had to be a fluke. So, I gave it another chance.
1st Visit: ATMOSPHERE: It was a bustling environment which seemed to belong more in a city like New York, than our beautiful Miami. The decor was nice, yet simple. A few people had their dogs inside. I really like the newspaper design. The doors are extremely heavy. Indoor & outdoor seating is available. The menu was vast and posted above the counter. It was somewhat overwhelming.
SERVICE: The staff could tell I was overwhelmed by the menu. So they approached my son and I and walked us through everything. This took almost 7 minutes and they were very patient. I ordered a salad and my son got a wrap. While waiting for our food, we watched a man casually walk to the beverage refrigerator and help himself (steal 🚔 🚓 👮♂️) to a can of Coca-Cola. 👀😳🤣🤣🤣 Then he returned to his seat as if nothing happened. He was on his computer and didn't seem to have ordered anything. I was shocked, then tickled.
FOOD: We received or food shortly thereafter. My salad was horrible. It was so bad that it didn't make it to my home. I threw it away while driving at a nearby trash can. The mushrooms tasted as if they still had soil on them. The olives were partially rotten. And the lettuce was stale as well. I nibbled on the chickpeas in an attempt to salvage at least a sliver of the $18 I paid for my inedible meal. I hate to waste money. So, I was terribly upset. Upset to tears. 😞
2nd Visit: ATMOSPHERE: I ordered online this time. I chose the Farm to Fork veggie omelet.
SERVICE: I pushed the heavy door to enter the eatery and was warmly greeted by the staff. They then pointed me to my order. I thanked them and left.
FOOD: Ohhhh myyyy gawwwd!!! 😲 I'm so glad I gave this place another shot. This is one of the BEST omelets I've ever had! And the portion size was extremely generous. I'm super greedy, so I can eat a lot! But there was so much food that I was able to be filled and my teen son was filled by my leftovers. I had a baguette and some sort of home potatoes with my meal. The baguette was an excellent touch but I could've done without the potatoes. They were saturated with oil and flavorless.
Overall, if it wasn't for my loss of almost $20 I would've easily given this place a 4.5 based on my 2nd visit alone. I hope my 3rd visit is not a disappointment....
Read moreOne of my all time favorite places in the city primarily because of its giant menu / array of options and loads of gluten free options. Unfortunately, this morning's experience left me feeling sick and really disappointed with this joint. I work 9hr overnight shifts and coming in this morning when the restaurant opened, all I could think about was a gluten free burger and truffle fries. Being allergic to gluten isn't a choice or preference of mine and it bums me out that I now have to triple check to make sure they don't poison me. The gentleman taking my order was so flustered by me ordering a burger at 7am that I should've known in that second to double-check my order. When it was ready, I asked the runner if they made it on gluten free bread because of the allergy I had mentioned and he said no but that he will have them remake it asap. But instead of just taking my bag (seeing as a dozen people have already touched it, I could care less if he was the one re-opening it), he refused to open it for me, made me unpack it, just to hand it back to him. Within 5min he brought it back on the gluten free bun but it was obvious they didn't remake it from scratch, they just grabbed the contents off the regular bread and threw it on top of the gluten free bread, completely disregarding the fact that it clearly has already touched the regular bread so they're not paying any attention to my allergy. Seeing as I'm already paying $25 (burger, truffle fries and a Vitamin water), you would think they would be mindful of my allergy; but instead treated me like some guy that just decided he wanted it to be gluten free. Why even have gluten free options if you're still going to poison people with a serious allergy? Really disappointing and now I know to ask them a dozen times to be mindful of my allergy which I shouldn't have to do... It's 2021 and I think it's fair to say that most people who are gluten free are actually allergic and not just "hopping on some fad." Sucks that I'm sitting here in pain when the people who work here are more concerned with adding more things to their menu and not the health of...
Read moreThe food choices here are vast with reasonable prices. That’s not the issue. The issue here is the female manager who works here. Not only is she hostile and aggressive, but she was literally on the verge of wanting to fight me and not only yelling at me, but telling me to call the cops on a purchase worth less than $5 because I wanted a refund on a sesame bagel that literally came with no sesame seeds. Everyone else here was professional but the black female manager was out of her mind, speaking to a client who was simply being civil in trying to resolve an issue on an item they were dissatisfied with at this store. The fact that she put out her arms like she was ready for me to tackle her and fight her over such a small transaction is insane, when, as the manager, she easily could’ve fixed it. The male manager was much more professional although she wanted to keep him from giving me a refund although I gave the food item back. It also proves how low and trash the female manager is. Thankfully, a distinct African American employee was kind enough to intervene and both he and the male manager apologized to me, because they acknowledged that what I was going through was wrong, but the black female manager does not belong at this location. She’s crazy and giving the business a terrible reputation with her volatile attitude and nasty way of treating customers. If you don’t know how to interact with people, don’t go into customer service, especially in the hospitality and restaurant industry, which is entirely dependent on the customer experience and making clients feel comfortable and welcome. I hope the owner does something to resolve the situation because truthfully, that kind of ghetto trash should not be a manager anywhere. Additionally, I noticed the way that she treated her staff and it was...
