Legion Park is the perfect place to have outdoor fun with the family, or engage with the community. Enjoy the sunshine in this open air, waterfront park, which is equipped with numerous facilities. Legion is a great place if for children -- the park frequently hosts after-school programs and camps, as well as the local Girl Scout troop. There’s also a fun kids playground, dog park, tennis court, picnic areas, soccer field, basketball courts, an outdoor exercise area, and biking and walking paths. The park extends indoors as well with a recreation center. Jump into a game of indoor basketball, summer camps, or take a dance class as the multipurpose facility. Pros: The kids playground area is nice and is in good condition, as are the basketball courts and tennis courts. Some parts of the park were undergoing ground maintenance when we visited. Cons: The area that could be improved was the grassed area beside the bay. The quality of the grass is dreadful. There are many weeds. It would not be a good surface for children to play on. The views of the waterways from the seating areas are unfortunately obstructed by overgrown plants. This grassed area beside the water could be wonderful if more attention was paid to it. A pickleball court would also be a great addition. This could easily be created by painting pickleball lines on one of the tennis courts. Pickleball players could take...
