Alright, so here's what I think.
Home Depot is one of those places I don't really go to because I want to, but I need to. Is it fun? No. Obviously.
This is how I break it down.
-Large selection, like holy s**t does it have a large variety of things to buy from all at different prices, colors, sizes, etc. Really appreciate the amount of choice you get. -Employees that I have encountered so far have actually been nice and polite, but there is indeed a language barrier. Sometimes it takes me several tries to get a Spanish speaking employee (I speak Spanish too, but I just wanted to run an experiment to see where the language lays more, this case, English). HD needs to consider finding some more bilingual sales people, it'd really boost their customer service capabilities and sales overall. Cashiers can be sometimes very slow, not like they have to calculate 20-30 products, sometimes people only bring up 2-3 things, and yet it seems to take more or less 3-4 minutes for each person to get through. Returns department did it's job properly, after checking merchandise as normal, money was returned, no problem there. -Accessibility is kinda a rough spot here. Sure, you might have a huge selection, tons of aisles to go through, but the thing is, those lanes are pretty damn small as they are now. hardly can get through sometimes, and it's just two carts side-by-side to each other in an aisle. It only gets worse if you're using the dolleys (the big orange metal carts, btw), then you're limiting the space to one cart (specially with those products on the floor in their displays). Parking can be a hassle sometimes, finding a good/accessible spot is very interesting most of the time. I'll take that into account that they're a busy store, so I'll give it a little slack, but it needs a bit more work. -Some problems I have: So I get that people are looking for jobs, or so you think, but the problem is, you have sometimes people waiting on the side of the roads in the parking lot, constantly bugging drivers about them looking for a job. That's not bad in itself, the problem is that most of those people have no papers, or aren't looking for a job but more of an opportunity to show up to take advantage of someone willing to give someone a chance. Then you have the trash problem, you find so much things laying around, food trays, beer cans, broken glass, etc. Sometimes you'd fine homeless people sitting near the entrance, or wandering around the parking lot, incessantly asking for money. Again, that's not a problem in itself, but some of them resort to yelling at people, insulting them, etc. That needs more control.
So before I do much more, I'll score each category as is: -Inventory: 9/10 (You find a LOT of stuff, of course, things are missing, but you can't have it all). -Employees/Customer Serv.: 7.5/10 (While there are good employees, no doubt, there is room for improvement, and ways to make things more efficient). -Accessibility/Convenience: 6/10 (It can be hard to find parking, or move around at all really, and when you get inside after several laps, it feels cramped even though the warehouse is huge, that isn't good). -Other problems: 4/10 (The people situation needs to be addressed, so does the trash problem, sometimes I've seen people leave just by seeing these...

Read moreI don’t mind if Spanish is the primary language. I was looking for a mosquito zapper. The first girl gave me a couple choices for Isles, but gave me one area that was electrical with no items like a mosquito zapper. She didn’t walk me over there and help me. So I went to the garden center, and the girl in at the register was speaking to a woman for at least 10 minutes and eventually multiple people were behind me in line. When she waited on me, she didn’t know any English at all and she partially understood my Spanish. She said to go upfront and I said “well, they told me to come here.” So the people behind me knew English, and in Spanish told her what I wanted and then she said “well, I partially understood her. She said this in Spanish, and then she says “I don’t know where it would be.” So I just said I would buy on Amazon. People need to realize her first excuse was that she couldn’t understand me. I don’t mind Spanish being the primary language and don’t mind if you don’t know English, but don’t decide not to help a customer because you don’t understand them exactly or because you don’t know where an item is. I did tell her that if I worked at Home Depot, I would want them to make more money and I would find someone to help me, it was really bad customer service today. It’s unfortunate because I find the Cuban people in South Florida and Hispanic people in general do an excellent job keeping businesses in great shape. They seem to have pride and their work. So I don’t really appreciate being treated...
