The owner and workers of this store prey on the people who don’t know the value of what they own. The manager is very nit picky and will get annoyed with you fast if you ask “to many quesrions”. I went in with GIA appraised antique palladium ring and was offered less than half of the value of just the metal and diamonds… huge rip off and they are actively taking advantage of people. Would definitely not recommend bringing anything of value to sell here as you will be unfairly paid and taken advantage of. Overall I would recommend any other local shop as opposed to this one. The same ring they offered me $200 for I was offered 4x the price of at another local shop. As stated; they take advantage of those who do not know the true value of what they have. After multiple bad experiences such as being told to leave, extreme lowball offerings for multiple antique rings; and offering 20 cents on the dollar for silver (was offered about $150 total for over 500 grams of antique gorham silver pieces, which hold value and are not considered “scrap” as I was told they were…). This is the last shop in town I would recommend anyone going to. Check out other places before you accept any offers here. As I’ve found most every other store will NOT treat you as though you own nothing...
Read moreI've been a coin collector for as long as I can remember. I was taught the value of saving money by receiving my dad's and grandpa's small coin collection. It started small at first but after a while, my collection began to grow into a pretty serious stash. University Coin and Jewelry is the first coin shop I stepped foot in, and for 6 years now, I have yet to find a better stop for coins and precious metals. UC&J is always my first choice when seeking out silver and collectable coins because of their amazing, welcoming, and well informed staff, as well as the very fair prices. I'm pretty sure for silver bullion at least there aren't better prices anywhere in the Middleton/Madison area. The best part about UC&J is that their in store stock changes so quickly. I could go in one day and have the opportunity to pick up some war nickels and silver Washington quarters, and then the next day there will be a whole new shipment of bullion and bars. This is the all time best coin shop for coin collectors in my opinion. If any UC&J staff members are reading this, you guys do an incredible job. I know that opening are scarce, but I would love to work here. Keep up...
Read moreI bought a diamond and sapphire tennis bracelet and ring from a Donella on February 20th 2019. I returned to the store on March 15th 2019 to pick up a different repair. I mentioned to a different sales lady that the bracelet didn't look very shiny for diamonds. She said they were not diamonds like I was told, and my receipt said. They were white sapphires with blue sapphires. I told her that I didn't want it then, and she sold me a saphire only bracelet for another $1,000 in it's place. The next business day (today), I stopped in to have some links taken out because it was too long. Donella told me that there would be a charge for this! What?! If I bought a ring from you for example, I would have to pay to have it sized?! She had the nerve to ask me why I didn't say something Saturday. I didn't have a chance to wear it yet! So she says the owner would need to waive the fee, which he did and he acted like he was doing me a favor. What a bunch of dishonest,...
