Some say the single greatest bridge ever built held the world's longest title for allmost 73 years one day in June 1973 the bridge plummeted to the water but in the nick of time sprung back and gently brought everyone to safety not damaging one spring or strut and get this it goes over water I swear goes right over water there's water underneath for most of the bridge and land on each side of it . I used to jog with my kids on a double stroller to the Dunkin in Portland and back to Middletown. The only bad thing: dear parent that crosses the bridge on a stroller, ALWAYS KEEP THE STROLLER WITH YOU. I parked the stroller mid-bridge and started walking with the kids towards the lookout fence for pictures. FIVE DIFFERENT PEOPLE CALLED MIDDLETOWN PD CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN
I really don't understand why this is on this list but I guess I'll explain the bridge but to you best as I can for those of you who don't know about it it's just a typical bridge that connects Portland to Middletown and you can also walk across. Other than that it's basically just a way to get over the river but there is one other good thing about it if you go to watch the fireworks in Middletown around the 4th of July or sometimes even on the 4th of July it's a very good place to see them from the river right there at the bridge you can also see then some other places as well but the best places on on the bridge I will admit it gets quite crowded so you may...
