EDIT: Food Poisoning: The below was my initial review Of this restaurant. However, between 4-6 hours after eating, my wife began vomiting. She had a stiff neck, headache and body aches. Classic presentation of food poisoning. Sooo…these things happen from time to time, but unfortunately I cannot stand by my initial 4-Star rating. ORIGINAL RATING: This is a nice restaurant in downtown Middletown with large indoor seating, bar and outdoor dining. Wonderful place to do a large event under the tent with its own mobile bar and round tables. The bar makes quality drinks to standard and has the LARGEST selection of mixed drinks of any restaurant in all of Middletown. Their pasta dishes are rich, savory and delicious! . Personally, I would choose to pair some of their entrees with a different type of pasta. For example, the Veal Scallopini Luce Combo is served with orecchiette, but It would be amazing if instead they used a nice gemelli or pappardelle to absorb all the delicious sauce instead of just pooling in the orecchiette. The portions were very generous. The French onion soup was tasty. Follow-me for more food reviews!

I parked in their lot, did not see the sign which is not angled to you if you make a right into the lot. There are several business there, seemed like a general lot. Saw no attendant. I left the lot to eat across the street. When I came back the had put a sticker on my window so large I couldn't see out of it. I couldn't scrape it off completely (see photo). I couldn't drive home. The manager could not have been more rude or cold about it. When I complained he threatened to call the police. When I was outside scraping off what I could, the guy from the kitchen came out the side door an laughed at me. He had a mop in his hands. The funny thing is I just spent $300 across the street and we were talking about eating at the Luce. Now I never will and I have already told a few friends (also in their 60's with money) not to bother with Luce. Anyone this obnoxious could potentially mess with your food. I would not trust their reviews - they go from perfect to one star - obnoxious manager. Stay Clear - I ate at Esca across the street and it was fantastic! Just don't park in the Luce lot.

This is my fifth time at this restaurant and I never had a problem before. However, this time we did. My husband and I went to have indoors dinner at Luce, one of our friends spilled his wine on the table making a mess. Instead of our waiter changing the table cloth, the waiter simply put several napkins to soak up the wine and replaced the plates back. It was disgusting. In addition, we all had to clean up the bench sit ourselves since that was covered in wine as well. At this point, we had to explain that when a table is soaking wet, the only solution is to change the whole thing. The waiter seemed confused and clueless about how to do it so we just asked to have a new table cloth brought to us and we did it all quickly and efficiently. At least the food tasted good... but, we tipped the waiter not so well...

These people are ridiculously pretentious. Me and my family were new to the area, so we pull into the lot to try and get our bearings when we see this guy in a grey tux staring daggers at us and stroking his chin like a Bond villain. It is marked for customers of Luce only, but we were there for only a moment and the lot was dead at 5pm on a Saturday. And we were thinking of going in anyways, since we were hungry, but looking online it may be a reservation only type of place.

So then, we move to the other side of the lot(the sign marking it for customers is on the right side of the lot, so we moved to the left) because we thought it wasn't part of the reserved lot since there were other business signs in that area of the lot. So then the grey tux guy and what I'm assuming is a waiter are still staring at us from the patio, and then grey tux makes a gesture with his hand as if telling us to move along with an expression full of disdain.

So then we leave, even though I'm still confused if the parking on the left was part of their reserved lot or not because it's not clearly marked, but we didn't want our car towed 🤷‍♀️. I'm just saying, even if it is part of the lot, we were there long enough when we moved the car to the left that they could've just walked over and let us know that the entire lot was theirs? I don't know who pissed in their cereal, but there's no level of friendliness to be found and I feel like they absolutely would tow your car for a...

I've eaten here a total of 8 times. Whether it is dine in or take out. My first experience in March 2018 was lovely. Although very expensive, I enjoyed my dinner and so did my husband. I enjoyed my meal so much that I keep ordering it via take out. It's always hit or miss. I order the chicken and the sauce is usually watery with take out. Recently, I decided to treat myself out because I was bored and I didn't want to eat at home. I went to another restaurant first and ended up at Luce. I ordered the same thing, the chicken. The sauce/gravy was thick and it had a spice kick like it did the first time that I ate it. My take out misses the spice with the watery gravy. As I was enjoying my meal, I started in on my second piece of chicken and it was pink, undercooked. I didn't eat it and my spinach was so greesy. I enjoyed part of the meal though and it was good. The staff is always friendly at Luce and the ambiance is very beautiful. I gave this post 3 stars because I've been disappointed with them lately my food has either been greesy, undercooked or upon take out watery. Had it not been for those circumstances, I would have given them a five. They deserved it in March. Maybe they've gotten a new...

I'll start off by saying I would definitely go back for seconds, the food was fantastic. Our party ordered oysters and clams from the raw bar to start which were fresh and flavorful. We chose a variety of entrees including pork medallions wrapped in bacon with pear stuffed with gorgonzola and dressed with balsamic glaze, a wonderful veal dish, and a venison Bolognese over fettuccini. The flavors we're all rich and distinct.

Dinner was followed by desserts which we all shared, including chocolate lava cake, cheesecake, an Italian custard or flan, and creme brulle. The cheesecake was my favorite, light and full of flavor with a little raspberry sauce dabbed on the plate. Our part of 6 met for dinner on a Wednesday night, so the restaurant wasn't too busy. I understand that they are much busier later in the week, so I would recommend making a reservation.

Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food, coming in at around $70 per person including tip. We went all out, this was with all the appetizers, entrees, two bottles of wine, a few beers, dessert, and coffee.

A gem in downtown Middletown. They also have their own parking lot which is...
