We purchased approximately $9,000 in furniture from the Haverty's store located in Midlothian, VA. At the sales persons suggestion we also purchased the Guardsman Gold Furniture Protection Plan for an additional $400. We were told it covered virtually everything and was good for five years. Our five year plan was about to expire and since we paid $400 for it we thought we should use it to have scratches and a broken sofa frame fixed because as the sales person told us, it's good for 5 years and covers virtually everything. To our dismay, it doesn't actually cover virtually everything! Further, the sales person conveniently forgot to mention that all damage must be reported within 30 days and if it's "incidental damage" (whatever that means) that won't be covered either. BUYER BEWARE: make sure you read the Guardsman Protection Plan in it's entirety because I can assure you when the sales people push this on their customers they certainly won't tell you how the plan actually works and what it won't cover. I called the store to speak with the Store Manager Jay Band to discuss this. He was very condescending, telling me if the Protection Plan is good for five years, I should have reported the damage when it occurred and not waited 4 years and 10 months to make a claim. Mr. Band didn't even bother to ask when the damage occurred. It didn't seem to matter to him that when we purchased the almost $9,000 in furniture we were also returning customers where we spent thousands of dollars on a 12 piece Pulaski dining suit, oversized love seat, chaise lounge, book case, and side table. When Mr. Band asked me to tell him what could be done, I simply told him to just "fix my furniture". After all it was because of how the plan was sold to us that our claim was denied. His response, HE HUNG UP ON ME! What kind of store manager hangs up on his customers after spending $9,000? I will never step foot in the Haverty's Store-Midlothian or any other location again. I will take my money elsewhere and I will make sure I share this experience with as many...
Read moreTracy Jones pleasantly greeted me as I entered the Havertys Furniture Store on Midlothian Turnpike. I was there to look for a sectional sofa, chair, coffee table, end table and entertainment center. I decided on the sectional and planned to get the chair in the matching fabric. Mr. Jones said that option was definitely available. As we continued to look through the store, he picked up a ring of sample fabrics and showed me a fabric he thought would look good on the chair. It was a pattern with several different colors which I would never have thought of using. The colors matched the sectional beautifully, so I decided to go with that fabric. We then went to the computer and he put this configuration on the screen and I was able to see how everthing would look in my room. I then purchased a coffee table, end table, and entertainment center. These items were also Mr. Jones suggestions, and as I continued looking for comparisons, his choices were the best and he explained why he made those choices. We went back to the computer and he pulled up the initial work sheet and added the new items. He emailed the work sheet to me so I would have it for reference. I was so pleased with all the choices. Mr. Jones spent at least 2 1/2 hours with me and never rushed me into any decisions. We looked at rugs for the room and, once again, his choice and explanation as to why he chose a particular rug were right on the mark. I told Mr. Jones he could be an interior designer. The store was beautifully decorated with accessories which I did not need. Needless to say, I would certainly recommend him and Havertys to anyone looking for furniture, rugs, or...
Read moreThis is my experience with this store. We placed our order months before closing date in our house. Closing date came & go and no furnitures. Paid in full and we have to wait another 3-4weeks because two chairs broken and table broken. Calls after calls. Looking back, our mistake was not cancelling everything and get our money back. DISAPPOINTED!!. And the WORST part was the delivery. They gave you a date and time framed but no one showed up. Wasted my time, calls after calls. Then finally got a 2nd date/time coming in between 11am to 1pm. They showed up in the afternoon (3:20pm) and Im about to pick up my daughter from school. I was backing up from driveway and I ask them to wait for 30mins and I'll be back and explain to them my situation. They reply NO we cant do that. I waited for a day and the whole morning for them and they cant even wait for 30mins. I made another mistake there and should have drove off and let them deliver next time when I AM available. So I was late picking up my daughter and she cried because she thought something bad happen to her Mama (because Im always on time). I will NEVER buy from this store and I will pass it along to my family/friends. Its not worth it to me. If I could go back, I would have CANCEL EVERYTHING and get our money back. Ive given second chances to stores who did me wrong. But I will NEVER give this store a second chance, because of my experience and adding the situation with...
