Launch Family Entertainment Richmond — Attraction in Midlothian

This review is about Summer Camp at Launch.

I've been to Launch before for play dates and birthday parties, but not for camp. I couldn't find reviews anywhere, so I had a ton of concerns about whether this would work for my schedule and for my severely (medicated) ADHD child. He normally hates camp, but fell in love with this place on the first day. Here were my concerns and how they were met:

The counselors: Are they nice? Yes, not only are they extremely good with kids, but all of them are VERY professional, kind and engaging. I couldn't tell whether the employees were in HS or college, but this is a solid group of young people who care.

The manager: Is he responsive? Yes, absolutely. The few times I had issues getting in the building (because I was late due to professional obligations), I reached out to him via email and he responded or called staff within minutes to get me in. He went out of his way for me. His name was Jamal Moore. The morning manager at the desk is also super sweet and I wish I could remember her name for a shout out.

-The schedule: How flexible are they? Very. I paid for drop-in days as it made sense for my schedule. No requirement to pay for a week to save your spot. I get there closer to 9am, and they DO lock the doors for the security and safety of the kids, so I wait a few minutes at the door sometimes for the staff (who are with the kids).

-The other kids: are they nice? Yes, yes, yes. Sweet group of kids that came consistently through the summer. My son loved hanging out with the mixed age group. All sweet. (Well-supervised.)

-The price: How much is it? $50-$75/day. The prices are listed online but it's very comparable to other summer camps and daycare programs.

-The programming? Great, according to my son. They start everyday with a new movie, some jumping, laser tag, a STEAM activity, more jumping. He comes home tired and happy.

Overall, I'm so thankful I found a camp with flexible participation options. My son had a fabulous summer thanks to Launch and I look forward to...

I was very much displeased with my visit here. Right at the front door, upon entrance I immediately see a group of workers dancing behind the counter, not paying any mind to the people in line or at the desk. This continued for about 5 minutes until I got up there and was met with this confused face when I handed them the ticket. Like they didn’t know what to do with it. After they received help, I put the socks on and was instantly met with a trampoline court with no rules. Every manager I saw was either very concerned with their dancing, or sitting at a table eating. The playlist over the radio was extremely explicit, and certainly not something that I would consider playing in an establishment filled with children. Yet they continued to DJ and I watched every manger, worker and child repeat every word. I decided I would see how their service held up at the snack bar, ordered a drink and a pretzel, got my drink and stood there waiting on my pretzel for more than 10 minutes before the young man at the register gave me this look and asked “Are you waiting on something?” As if I were standing there for my health. I had given my order and stepped back 6 feet and waited while I watched multiple workers come from the kitchen to dance to the music. I finished my pretzel and quickly wasted my game card so I could get out of there. The staff was way more concerned with dancing and being there with their friends to even try and provide me with a pleasurable experience. It was overpriced and poorly run and I was very tempted to ask for a refund, my children and I will not be returning to Launch...

I would like to say that this place is AMAZING ! From the OWNERS TO THE STAFF ! Great Experience with Family and Friends ! We had a Birthday Party Reserved Thanks to being referred By Mr.Walt , to come out and celebrate at Launch for a Birthday Party - HE said they have fun activities and great Birthday package deals ! So we did just that ! Food Was Great,the kids had an awesome time and Can I say the HOST _ Ms.Marissa -OMG Great Job young Lady - You managed all the food ,games ,kids ,drinks , prizes and even work extra to make sure we had everything we needed ! Thank you ! A Big Thanks to the Manager on Duty Ms. Melissa for checking on us and making sure everything was up to part on their end - Can I say Team Work makes the Dream work - LOVE everyone's Attitudes ! What's amazing is to to work in a place with LOTS of Children-- Can I say that is a Gift within it self - Thank you Launch for Having US and making our Birthday Celebration a great experience ! WE HAD A PHENOMENAL TIME ! FROM THE ADULTS TO THE KIDS ! Them babies was nice and tired when they got home ! LOL Best Birthday EVER ! I will refer Family & Friends to come out and celebrate their events at Launch with all the packages / space they offer and their AMAZING Staff - I also learned some more great things that are Happening at Launch Richmond VA - GUESS WHAT else LOL - They Even have Adult Night !
