I just had a very disturbing experience in this library. I'm sitting there trying to fill out paperwork for school Rose State College. As I was sitting there 4 young boys from the age of 10 to 12 decided they wanted to get on the computer and play Black ops!!! Wow I couldn't believe the library allowed underage children to access A very violent shooting game. Me being a mother and knowing that it takes a village to raise our children. I tried to make a complaint to the supervisor and all he could tell me was about the policies that don't protect our children. What was very disturbing that children of this age were allowed to play a violent explicit game at a public library on a public library computer. In return allowing our children to learn how to aim and shoot and could possibly decide to react a game that they were allowed to learn and play at the library. Unsupervised by any adults librarians have no idea if the child is even allowed to play this game at home. We all should stand up be accountable for all our children our young children at that age from learning how to shoot and think that a gun is a toy! More so to take to school and shoot innocent kids because we as adults don't prevent things like this from happening before mass casualty happens. Out of the concern for our children safety I feel as though situations where they're able to get a hold of an adult R rated game and I'm pretty sure it's not PG!! How come the library can't put a parental control on their computers? Therefore not allowing kids of a certain age to even be able to log into a public library under their public library card and have access to such a violent game. If this could save one kid from being targeted at school and shot I feel like putting this policy into place is a lot easier to do than to bury a child because another student learned how to be violent at your public libraries!! I had to get out of there as soon as possible I could not sit around and listen to shoot at each other!! It made me...
Read moreThis is today, I am 62 years old and have been without electricity for 1 week, internet for two, and alot longer they say, amongst a pandemic. Library open, yay! I can use some wifi to download stuff I have needed, for over two weeks. Wearing a mask, I entered, there are two other people in there and 8 people working. I start work , in ten minutes, the guy with curly hair behind that single desk in the middle, asked me to leave. You are allowed to use their computers for one hour, but can't work on your computer, using their wifi, 100 ft from anyone, even if you are a library card holder. He said I had to go. I felt like crying. Frustrated, I left. And I felt violated as a human being. So I slithered out, like the thing I was treated as. Nobody forgets how they were treated by...
Read moreMy first time at this library and the staff was very welcoming. However, the quiet room smelled like Marijuana (probably a patron who smokes), so I sat at a table in the main room. Not 20 minutes later, I could hear the children banging on toys, moms hanging out with their kids being loud, and no one would close the children's room door or ask the parents to please keep their kids quieter while in the main room. For an hour, I and the other patrons had to suffer in silence. Even after asking staff for the room to be closed and parents reminded to keep quiet, I think it's unacceptable for the library manager not to consider other patrons visiting the library. I won't be going back in person if I...
