Wilson Park — Attraction in Milan

It's okay. There's a couple of Porta Potties, but no actual washroom facilities (unless you walk up to the library), and the mosquitoes will carry you away in the summer. The walking paths go near the river but don't let you walk along the shore of it. At one point, the walking paths end and you have to turn yourself around - there's no "loop" if you go along the river near the woods. There are baseball and softball fields, but the outfields are extremely lumpy. Their playground equipment is clean, but generic. There's a pavilion and basketball courts, but again, nothing phenomenal. It's a pleasantly inoffensive outdoor space to either kill some time at, host an event you're not very invested in, or meet for a Craigslist exchange because of the proximity to the police department, but I wouldn't deliberately go to Wilson if another outdoor space...

As parks go, this one is not lavish, but what is great about it is that it is almost always being used for some community event. There is a regular Thursday evening car club show & shine there, basket ball courts, a small playground for the kids, soccer fields and some nice paved walking paths. There are two bridges crossing the Saline River that flows on the south side of the park, one on the east end and one on the west. We like to take our dog for a walk there, taking a leisurely stroll along the walkways and crossing the bridges and looking for turtles. The Milan fair is held in the park every year as well as many other events year round. This park is clean and neat and with the Police station a stone's throw on the south, and the fire station on the northeast edge of the park, you know nobody...
