I discovered this gem on a walk through the lovely hamlet of Milan and was quite pleased with my entire experience. First, the staff was friendly and seated me right away. The booths were clean, tables available if needed, and comfortable. No hard seats here. The atmosphere was subtle and respectful to the culture, while not being too pervasive. The service was top notch and attentive through the entire visit. And something that might turn off other reviewers, I found everything from the complimentary salsa to my delicious respite to be reasonably mild, allowing the customer to adjust the spice level on their own. Yes, we in America expect Mexican food to have a tangy zip, but to have the opportunity to change the flavor on my own was a nice adjustment to the norm. Hot sauce was provided, and it gave my tasty dish the punch I was looking for. I had the Pollo Bandito, savory chicken dish with sautéed mushrooms under a drizzle of queso blanco. With three taco tortillas and the traditional side of rice and beans, it was delicious and filling. I watched other dishes leave the kitchen at speed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal and having a lovely time.
If in Milan Michigan with a craving for authentic Mexican cooking, you owe it to yourself to visit Peppers. You won't be disappointed. This reviewer will be back...
Read moreThis restaurant has several locations- we tried the one in Milan. Overall we had a fantastic experience. The only odd thing we didn’t love is the fact that when you sit at the bar, the wait staff still serve you. There is no bartender per se- the wait staff divvy up bar customers just like table customers. And they make their own drinks. Not a big deal (and maybe it’s only this location due to staffing shortages) but we like to sit at a bar and talk to the bartenders about the establishment, surrounding area, etc and we couldn’t do that. But otherwise this will definitely become a regular spot for us. We had the beef and bean nachos, los compadres burritos, and tacos (Al Pastor and carnitas). All of it was very good. The beef and bean nachos are LOADED with goodness and yet never got soggy. The tacos were flavorful and like a party in your mouth. The los compadres had some good heat to the chorizo. And of course- we had to try the large margaritas- it comes in a bowl!!! I highly recommend checking...
