I really wanted to shop local and it was a huge disappointment. The store owner actually yelled at me when there was a conflict. To start at the beginning: We wanted an Amish dining room set, so we ordered a nice table and chairs from Huron Valley Furniture from a sales lady Michelle. She was helpful and we left a deposit for the table and chairs. We were told it would take 6 weeks for our table to come in. When the 6 weeks were up, I called the store. They told me they had no idea when it would be ready and that the Amish don't communicate well. I asked if they could please follow up with the Amish furniture makers. I was patient and waited another week to call again when I had not heard from them. The store said they still had no idea when it would be done. I explained that I needed my items for a family gathering. They said they would try to get an answer. Another two weeks went by, and there was no communication from the store so I called again and asked to speak with the store owner. She didn't have any answers for me. I told her I was very frustrated and asked her what my options were at this point. She told me I had none. I asked if I could cancel my order because I really need a table and she said she would be keeping my deposit if I did that. Since the deposit was a huge chunk of money, I declined. I asked if there was anything they could do to help me and she started YELLING at me. She raised her voice at me. I was calm since I was with my newborn and not about to get her upset. I calmly told the store owner that it was not kind and completely inappropriate to yell at a customer, and she told that she didn't need advice on how to run her business and she was offended by me asking if there was anything that could be done. I told her I would call back and speak with Michelle who was a more reasonable human being. I later talked to Michelle, and evidently the store owner told her that I had yelled and "things got heated." This was not the case, and the store owner is clearly insane. Two weeks later, I finally received my table (after the family event) and they even had the audacity to charge me the $20 delivery fee from the store. The table and chairs are very nice but certainly not worth the hassle AND getting yelled at by some crazy store owner. I will never shop there again! Too bad - we had just purchase a new home that we needed all new furniture for. Our money...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoyed working with Huron Valley Furniture up until they delivered the wrong table to us. We patiently waited 10 weeks (after we were promised 8 weeks) for an Amish-made table and chairs. We were willing to wait longer for the high quality furniture but, as the previous reviewer posted, we also inquired a couple of times about where the furniture was and each time we were told that they weren't sure and they would let us know when it arrived. When it finally did arrive, the delivery team was efficient and very professional. Upon further inspection of the table, however, my husband and I realized it was not the correct model of the table that we ordered. I immediately called and spoke with a salesperson who said that he was unable to help me because he was not directly involved with our order, but that he would have someone else return my call the following day and that they would "take care of it." The next day came and went and no phone call. We gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was the weekend of Milford Memories and figured they might have had a busy day. We decided to walk in to the store in person to discuss the issue. Two employees were standing at the counter, clearly not busy with other customers, and the first thing that one of them said was "That IS the table you ordered" in an accusatory tone, as if it was our mistake. After proving, with our receipt, that they in fact ordered the wrong table for us, we did not receive an apology or any remorse on their behalf. They still did not admit any wrongdoing after we even pointed out in the book of options the difference between the table we wanted and the table we got. They had no explanation for what went wrong but realized, very coincidentally, that their order for a new floor model just arrived and it happened to be the exact table we wanted. They offered to switch out our tables for us, but said that we would have to wait three days until they could make it out to our house (we live one mile away). The only reason we ended up with the table we wanted is because they just happened to have it in stock. Otherwise, I am sure, based on their attitude toward the situation, that we would have been stuck with the wrong table. We love supporting local businesses but will no longer be customers at Huron Valley Furniture...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst customer service ever! I ordered patio furniture (two chairs, a bench and a small table) in June with Frank. He told me that it would be free delivery. I told him that we lived pretty far away (over an hour) and asked if we would still be able to get it delivered. He said yes. At least three times I clarified where we lived to make sure that it could be delivered there and be free (we offered to pay a deliver fee). I gave him our address, the nearest city and how many minutes it was away. He said it was deliverable and free. Due to the virus the manufacturer has difficulty getting materials and so our order was delayed. In the beginning of august the table came in and frank called to ask if we wanted it delivered. I said no that I didn’t want to waste their time to deliver only one piece. Three weeks later the two chairs came in and again frank called to see if we wanted it delivered. When I called back to say yes since we had waited now 10 weeks, the owner answered. She refused to deliver and insisted that frank didn’t know where my location was when he agreed. I explained that I clarified three times and she told me that it wasn’t her problem and to cancel the order. I asked her multiple times if we could figure out a solution, she kept repeating cancel your order. So I did and we agreed on a day and time for me to pick up my refund. She was a half hour late and said nothing to me. I asked her if I could have a conversation with her and she shook her head no and walked away. I have never been treated so poorly by a company when they made a mistake and wouldn’t honor...
