Definitely a seasonal thing if you want the full experience because I visited in april and was underwhelmed at my walking experience. What looked like what might have been waterfalls and features were off ? Trees for sure I don't remember any flowers so must not have been many. So Definitely something for later in the year? Maybe I didn't travel the right path? It was my first time and I had to ask how to get inside and the very bohemian zen individual i chose to ask with a walking stick was so very nice was like honey ur trying to get in here im like yes i feel this is not it. We both laugh they said no ilthe entrance is around the other way between some trees. I thanked them and they wished me a happy earthday and said it was a great time to come for my grounding.....it was in fact not the right entrance but the entrance of the bike path haha. When i was walikng inside, i went in and to the right u could go left it just felt that was backwards haha. and then kept to the left I'm assuming if I choose the right path it may have a difficulty level and or time variation? I'm not sure

It is amazing what they have done with this area! I remember it as mills that made the area smell terribly when I was young, and now it is a peaceful, artfully planned place. The water management plan is impressive. It is definitely a must to explore at least once! You can easily walk a couple miles by looping around on the trails. There is a good size parking area, and picnic tables by the parking lot (at Simpson Park, which is next to it). There are a couple porta potties here. While it is a peaceful, beautiful spot, I've rated it a 3 due to the smells one might expect at a place such as this where water is being processed.

My go to place when I'm in the mood for a quiet walk. Not much traffic here, clean, decent parking lot and a restroom, albeit a porta-john, it does the job. I've walked every path here and enjoyed them all. Interesting fact; In 2010, the cities of Albany and Millersburg joined with metals manufacturer ATI to create an engineered water treatment wetland called Talking Water Gardens. Inspired by the environment, the wetland cells mimic the cleansing and cooling processes that occur in nature, returning treated water safely back to the Willamette River.

Some of the other reviews mention the smell of sewage, supposedly from the sewage plant next door, and slight debris along the path, and the isolated parking lot could be a safety issue. Well as far as sewage, it's not just next door, they have built a whole system of ponds along the Willamette and talking waters park, is part of this system. It's an ozmosis system of purifying the water with the little water falls and all that, if you look closely, you'll see little signs by the water that say warning, don't touch the water, don't allow dogs to drink it. And as for the garbage along trails and the parking lot and safety, well along the trail that goes along the Willamette, that's where Albany's homeless live in the woods there, and they are often in the parking lot, that's prob where the garbage on the trails in the park comes from. So if you enjoy watching sewage get cleaned the so called natural way and can handle the homeless and don't plan on letting your dog drink the water or going swimming. Go ahead and...

A Place with Heart, but Missing Water

Talking Gardens in Albany, Oregon has so much charm and potential. The layout is peaceful, the flowers and landscaping are clearly tended with love, and there’s a quiet magic in the air that makes it a lovely place for a slow stroll or a quiet moment.

But one thing really stood out — the ponds were completely dried out. It took away from the serenity and balance of the garden. What should have been tranquil, reflective water features were instead empty basins that left the space feeling a little forgotten in places.

With the ponds filled and flowing, this place could truly be a hidden gem. Still worth a visit if you’re nearby, but here’s hoping the water features return to bring the full vision of the gardens...
