I am the Band Director at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay. I booked rooms for myself, my students, and our bus driver for the night of Saturday, May 18th, 2019, as we were on our way home from the State Jazz Festival. Our bus' windshield wipers malfunctioned, and the ensuing wait for service caused our driver to go over hours, legally requiring us to rent hotel rooms for the night. After calling at least 15 hotels in the Woodburn/Salem/Albany area, Budget Inn was the only hotel with vacancies for the evening.
After we checked out the following morning, my driver and students made me aware of a number of problems in their hotel rooms. These included, but were not limited to:
My students and driver did not feel safe in their hotel rooms because of these issues. Many of them did not sleep because of it. Unfortunately, my students and driver did not make me aware of these issues until after we had checked out. I believe they didn't want to cause further issues since this was literally the only hotel with vacancies that we could find.
When I called the hotel to speak about these issues and ask for refunds/reimbursements, the hotel manager was quite rude and interrupted me every time I tried to speak or make my case. He told me that there were absolutely no refunds because we stayed the night and did not tell them about our issues before checking out. Again, I was unable to make these issues known because my students and driver did not make them known to me until after we had checked out and were on our way home.
I feel completely taken advantage of by this hotel and manager. There was nowhere else to stay, and we were forced to stay the night in an unclean and unsafe hotel room. The fact that these hotel rooms were rented with band program and school district monies makes me feel even more taken advantage of.
Do not stay...
Read moreStacy Wright1/54 minutes ago on GoogleI had made a reservation at Budget Inn in Albany, Oregon on 11/9/19. I was visiting my daughter in college in a neighboring town, I had called Budget Inn the day of my reservation to inform them I would be getting to the motel a little late in the evening, she said that would be fine. Upon arrival the employee at the front desk informed me they were having electrical/heating problems. She had me go into a room to check and see, what I’m seeing I’m not sure, but it was in no way acceptable!I looked at the heater because that was her reasoning why the room intended for my reservation was not available. The heater/AC unit had no button to push, the buttons had been pushed so much there was a hole instead. The room also had a very, very, strong smell of mildew/mold. I didn’t look at the rest of the room, I already new it wasn’t inhabitable. The woman at the office told me the heater did work when I told her it was unusable, she refused to go look at it. She told me I would not be charged for the cancellation and that I could find another room no problem. She did called another motel for me to see about availability, that motel was full. I know there weren’t many rooms for that night because I had looked several days prior online and there was only a couple availabilities, most were high end and more expensive than what I wanted to pay. It was a Saturday night, a college town. There was a college football game and family night at the college, therefore there were very few rooms in the area available.I feel I should be compensated for the inconvenience. If Budget Inn has called me as soon as they discovered their problem it would have been much less of an issue, I would have had time to figure something out. (It appears as if their issueA were not new, the motel was in very bad shape.) It was a huge hassle and forced me to spend time finding another room when I had plans with my daughter and sons that we weren’t able to do. The woman working in the office said they won’t charge me, that’s my compensation. The motel cancelled my reservation not me. If I cancel I still have to pay! That is unsatisfactory! I made a reservation for peace of mind and to save time. I wasted a lot of time looking for another room, it was stressful.I feel I should be...
Read moreWhen I first checked in the owner seemed nice and offered me room 204 walked in the room and it looked like the room had not been cleaned in months. Dog food and other food all over the floor when you first walked in and ants EVERYWHERE. Went back to the office and he offered me a “better” room. Well when I first walked in it seemed better until I actually looked around, the bathroom was nasty, I was terrified to even be in that bathroom.. and when I told management about it they gave me cleaner and said I could clean it, the towel that was on the ground for when you get out of the shower was crusty dirty and hairy, the “lovely” balcony looked like something you would see in a movie about the end of the world, the cable didn’t work at first, and then I pulled back the blankets and saw a bed bug and did not stick around to look for any more, I grabbed my stuff so fast and went to the front off and asked for a refund the owner told me no refund for tonight but he would refund the next night I had booked, and told me I brought the bed bugs..? I had never seen a bed bug in my life till I was there. And then called me a liar and bitched at me cause I left the lights on when I left the room. Like I’m sorry..? I just saw a bed bug where I was going to be sleeping of course I got out of there and didn’t turn off the light... this is the most disgusting place I have ever seen. It should be shut down.. I have no idea how this guy has managed to stay in business. Oh and he also tried telling me he owned the best western and the...
