This is an excellent Hindu mandir. It is a great place to visit around Hindu festivals, especially Diwali, when they have several exhibits and videos about Hinduism and a festive atmosphere with good food for purchase and children's fun activities. They have regular programs for children, young professionals, older men & older women. Many times in the year, the santos (saints - those who have taken vows to be in the BAPS order) visit. The murtis (icons) inside the mandir represent various divinities holy to Hindus. They have people who can explain Hinduism to you. They also have a store to purchase material about Hinduism, to practice Hinduism, & vegetarian food items & general groceries. This temple is part of the BAPS Hindu sampradaya (sect). This is a beautiful temple architecturally.The religious ceremonies are all per the Hindu religion. However they are too strict and don't allow men to sit in the same area as the women. This is also discouraging for our kids to go with their friends as this breaks up their group if they go in there with both boys and girls. I cannot always go with my children and when I did encourage them to go with friends, they complained about this arrangement. With our busy life's as it is we have very little time to be with our family. Instead of having two areas, it would be really wonderful if they could add another area so families like mine would have the choice is sitting together in the main prayer room, and will also encourage the younger generation to make their own choice as to where they want to sit...
