Pho & Bun in Milpitas will definitely suffice your cravings for some delicious Vietnamese food. This place absolutely deserves a 5-star rating.
I was starving when I walked in, but thankfully, the service was incredibly fast. I didn't have to wait long at all before I was enjoying a steaming bowl of pho. The temperature of the pho was just perfect, and I didn't have to wait or be extra cautious before I slurped.
We tried two different pho options - the PHỞ TÁL NAM, BO VIÊN (rare steak, flank, and meatball), and the PHỞ TÁI, BÒ VIÊN (rare steak and meatball). Both were phenomenal! The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the meat was tender and delicious. Truth be told, I inhaled that bowl. It was gone within 5-7 minutes. The portions for both the meat and the noodles were very generous. Each pho came with the side of leafy greens and veggies as one would expect. Hot pho after a hike on a cold and rainy day - the expectations were high, and this placed delivered in every aspect.
No Vietnamese meal is complete without Vietnamese coffee, and Pho & Bun did not disappoint. Their coffee was amazing! It struck the perfect balance of sweetness and strong, intense coffee flavor. Just be warned, it comes packed with ice, so the actual coffee content is a little less. You can always ask them for light ice.
The restaurant itself has a lovely Vietnamese interior with beautiful wall paintings. It creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements their delicious food.
Overall, Pho & Bun in Milpitas is a fantastic spot for Vietnamese cuisine. The fast service, amazing coffee, and incredible pho make it a true gem. I highly recommend...
Read moreThis place is pretty mid tier and your money will go significantly further at just about any other pho restaurant.
Pros: Extremely fast service. Like I mean fast food drive through levels of fast. ample free parking.
Cons: Service was pretty lackluster. I asked for a fork for a member in our party who can't use chopsticks, and it literally never came. We had four orders, the waiter repeated all the orders back to us, but when our stuff was served he forgot one of the orders. the pho was very bland. Tasted like warm water with some butter and a hint of onion. This is definitely the most bland pho broth I have had the displeasure of eating. the amount of noodles seemed to very wildly between each of our four dishes. the amount of broth to noodles was off. You are served in these huge bowls thinking there is a lot of substance, but once you finish the noodles and meat, you still have so much broth left over. I didn't leave feeling full. Heck, I didn't even leave feeling not hungry. the price is truly wild. $18.95. For the quantity and quality, youre better off going anywhere else. The pho should be a solid $5 cheaper. At this price they should be serving fresh noodles, but they aren't (I know because they were all stuck together at the bottom of my bowl and I had to disperse them).
Other: I find it incredibly weird that they take your order in person, but you have to go up to kiosk in order o pay. Either be full service or full...
Read morePho & Bun is a gem among a crowded list of Vietnamese noodle restaurants in the south bay. The location in Milpitas is small but the flavors are bold and the food is super delicious. It was our first time visiting and like any special place that focuses on quality, popular dishes, albeit the best dishes will quickly sell out. We were lucky to experience the beef rib pho noodle soup on a Sunday night. Eager to please, the manager waited and served us. Calamansi juice was quickly offered as a drink conjuring up childhood memories of this liquid gold citrus drink that typically can only be found in tropical countries. The soup was loaded with rare beef slices, flank steak, beef ball and rice noodle. The broth wasn't salty nor oily, a testament to the chefs passion and care. The complimentary vegetables were fresh and truly added to the flavors of the broth. There is no need to add hoisin or Sriracha sauce. The meat on the two bone beef rib was tender and flavorful. A meal, fit or a king or the hungriest of guests. No wonder it quickly sells out. I highly recommend this place. A second visit is worth...
