Being a cali guy living on the Monterey Bay area I really did not know what to expect. When we first drove e by it was rely crowded and it looked like everyone was having fun. The beach was crowded. We noticed that the parking was free and you could park in the parking lots or on side of the road. If you park on side of the road make sure you park within the lines because the police were out giving tickets to anyone who parked outside the lines. We went there a little later around 5ish. Parking at that time was really easy. We found a place right up front. The beach sand was softer it seemed than ocean beaches and the beach area was pretty wide and long. The water was not as cold as I thought and was pretty brown. There were not as many people out on the beach at that time but you could start to see the ghetto element start to come into the parking lot with people loud music and girls swerqking. We went to the little snack bar and got shakes. They were ok. Not the best or the worst. Overall was nice beach. People entertained me the...

Perfect sunny/ partly cloudy blue skies were at McKinley. Parking was great midway between Veterans Park and Northpoint. We flew kites. Great breezes, minimal people. Social distancing was respected. The portion of beach that we claimed was clean and sparsely inhabited. Best time ever!!

Minimum boats on the water and very few people on land. There's a spot for open air workouts! Parking was not a problem. There's some construction en route, so be prepared for minor detours. All in all, I was "drunk with sunshine" from our walk!...
Read moreEven though it was a cloudy and intermittently rainy day out here on the beach, we still had an excellent time attending an airshow here on a warm summer day. The showâs planners had to cut it short because of too many clouds, but it was fun browsing the various vendor tents as well as people watching.
The next time an air show comes to town, head down to the lakefront, and rest assured youâll find an excellent viewing spot here on the jetty at McKinley Beach. Youâll be as close as you can get to the screaming roar of the fighter jets, and thereâs no need to buy a ticket. Canât wait...
