Comet Cafe in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, proved to be a delightful spot for a lunch outing. From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed by the cool ambiance. Despite being a popular spot, I had no trouble finding a seat, which was a plus. The cleanliness of the place added to the overall positive experience. The server's friendliness and attentiveness stood out during my visit, enhancing the dining experience. Their warm demeanor added a personal touch to the meal, making me feel welcomed and valued as a customer. Opting for the club sandwich was a wise choice. It was delicious, with fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations that satisfied my taste buds. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and tastes, leaving me thoroughly impressed with the culinary offerings of Comet Cafe. Convenience played a role in my experience as well. Finding street parking nearby made the visit hassle-free, adding to the appeal of returning regularly, especially if I lived nearby. Comet Cafe would undoubtedly become a regular dining spot for me, given its combination of great food, friendly service, and convenience. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Comet Cafe to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Milwaukee. Whether it's for lunch, dinner, or even just a casual hangout, Comet Cafe has everything you need for a memorable meal.

Comet Cafe has been around for a long time, yet it was only recently that I went in for a taste. As is typical for the east side, parking can be a bit of a challenge. Another challenge is getting a table over the lunch hour, since this place is so popular and they don't reservations. Still, it's worth the wait considering the iconic status of this place. For starters I had the Jalepeno Bloodie. Not really spicy, but very tasty. They even gave me a beer chaser! Both my guest and I ordered the Commuter Sandwich, and here's where it got interesting. She ordered hers "plain" but I ordered mine with sausage. She enjoyed her sandwich and hashbrows without issue, however I felt both my hashbrowns and my sandwich were a bit greasy. I only had about half of my sandwich and a few bites of hashbrowns because they weren't sitting right with me. This doesn't mean I won't go back again though. The staff was friendly and helpful and the vibe was nice and chill.

Update: With the recent reopening, returnees will find it cleaner, the hostess and servers friendlier and quicker and the food quality is back plus! My turkey balls were outstanding and came with a substantial side of green beans (sad for that, I hate green beans so they went untouched). I will definitely be a regular with the cold months coming! First let me say, the service is excellent. My server was was pleasant and attentive. I ordered my usual, the compact turkey dinner, or as I like to call it "turkey balls". This time it was very disappointing. The whole thing had an overpowering taste of "smoked", something I've not noticed in the past. And it seemed overwhelmingly stuffed with grainy potatoes. I'm not going to rage and swear to never return but the food has to be good because if it isn't, you're just grabbing a mediocre lunch at a dive bar...which gives it character if the food stands up. Otherwise....not so much.

This place is a neighborhood staple, after being closed during COVID, its great that they kept everything the same even under new ownership (she was part owner in the past though:)). They reduced the menu somewhat but kept everything I always ordered so not 100% what was removed. Plus pies, pies, pies, they kept these beauties as a staple and highly recommend ordering a piece of pie with your meal because they DEF sell out!!! Newest pie I tried recently was the apple cranberry and highly recommend, was more of a crumple style and absolutely delish! Order these anytime and you will not be disappointed: Avocado toast, meatloaf, grilled cheese & tomato soup, salads (all homemade dressing, yum), fresh cut fries, bacon. Drinks - great for brunch & cocktails, nice draft/beer list and decent wine list.

Comet Cafe is a great place to eat. My friends & I came for breakfast. I had the eggs, bacon, toast, and hash browns. All of the food was hot & fresh. The staff are very friendly and professional. They play great background music as well. Definitely recommend!

Cool vibey diner with a large brunch menu. We had the fried chicken in biscuit with hash browns which was reported to me to be very good. I had the pork belly with Cheesy Grits and it was fair. The pork belly was dried out and to tough to eat. The grits lacked dimension but the red gravy helped. The blood Mary was decent and came with a side car of lager beer, a Milwaukee tradition. The service was very good. I would come back and try something else. I recommend checking out this eclectic diner.
