If you're the kind of person who opens a box of chocolates and goes for the ones filled with various fruits and creams, you will love this place. Unfortunately, I always skip those and opt for the denser, more heavily chocolate ones that are less sweet.
A friend and I each got a box of 4 last Saturday. The service was great and the chocolates are beautiful. You can tell that they put a lot of effort into their work. A big variety of interesting fruits, and I noticed quite a few with white chocolate as a base. That was the first signal that I might not like it, since I prefer dark chocolate that's 70%+ cacao.
For what you pay ($10/4 chocolates), I was hoping I would be in love. However, I found each one to be too sweet. Not to mention they are quite small (I'd say the round ones were about the footprint of a quarter, and the geometric ones were smaller than that), so it's definitely pricey. The larger "dessert" truffles looked more like an average size, but they were double the cost. I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay $5 for a bite of chocolate! The flavors were so unique and tasted fresh - not artificial in any way. You never lost the taste of the chocolate but the variety of flavors, even in a chocolate that had multiple flavoring components, were never overpowered or missed individually. I wish I had a picture to show the artistry that goes into each chocolate as they were beautiful and creative but our minds were focused on enjoying the flavors. We also tried the fall seasonal collection (as both a spice fan and garlic fan, the hatch chile and roasted garlic were so cool to me!) and sipping chocolate. Both were equally delicious. Can’t wait to taste some of our...
Read moreTo enhance a quiet New Year’s Eve, my wife and I crossed the street from our apartment house and purchased chocolates from Melt in the Lincoln Warehouse. Tiny, but obviously bespoke, Melt looked the opposite of commercial or corporate. The person behind the register was helpful, informative, and obviously passionate about Melt’s chocolates. He helped us pick out two boxes of assorted chocolates which we enjoyed later that night while drinking a Blanc de Blancs champagne. Melt’s chocolates are uniquely flavored and taste sublime. They are some of the best sold anywhere, including Europe and Japan. Only open on weekends and holidays, Melt is worth a...
