I remember as a kid growing up in NE Portland, there was this comic book / card store called "Pegasus". I used to go here once a week and collect Marvel cards (a big thing growing up in the 90's); they had it all! I would spend all the money I could collect there; fast forward 30 years and what once was "Pegasus", is now the store you see today and it still beckons me to spend all my money. After a nearly 20 year hiatus, I have returned and found the people, the culture and everything inside - amazing. Their website needs work and the website and the store are NOT connected to each other. They are the same company but completely separate entities. I've since abandoned using the website for anything but I come here now once a week to grab my latest subscription issue or browse the walls and find something new that I didn't know I'd enjoy. The staff are great; very knowledgeable with some great recommendations. They've got an INSANE bust / figure collection for sale (I'm not much of a figure collector - I don't have the space for it, but if I did, I would buy some) and are always stocked up on the latest issues across the board. They're not really the place to go if you're looking for older comics and looking for a specific issue but if you're up to date on your collection, they offer a great selection of new material, reprinted collected editions and fun memorabilia for the...
Read moreQuick story ... So, I dropped off my ballot in the nick of time at the downtown Milwaukie ballot box. I'm feel'n good... proud to have voted. I'm now rolling down Main St. towards home. Hello City Hall; Hello life size Alien & Predator display; Hello Dark Horse Comics. By now my inner geek is turned on 100% (I love my neighborhood). Anyhow, by the time Things From Another World rolls into view, I've decided to stop. The thing is this - I enjoy the "Geekie Tikis", and I had eye-balled - nearly a year ago - Dr. Strange. At the time, I told myself not to splurge, so I quelled my inner fan boy with a 75% off Thor Tiki... not the same, but I swore that I'd return!
Fast forward to this evening - I head inside, and I ask the clerk, if they have any Marvel Tikis left. The gent behind the counter says that they are sold out.
Noooooooooooo!
Then he says, "Let me check one other spot" 🤞 As he walks away, I am already starting to kick myself for having not stopped by sooner - doh!
He comes back and says he has one left, and it's DOCTOR STRANGE!!! Woot! - Mine! Early birthday gift to myself! 😁🤓
And the moral of the story is, good things can happen on election day! 😁
Thank you Things From Another...
Read moreOnline only - It's bad enough that true "Search" functions hide under the "Keyword Subscriptions" tab with names like "watchdog", my inability to instinctively know that just clicking "Remove Worksheet" is not sufficient to remove a myriad of products being charged to my account is not good UI/UX that I thought I had removed in May. Worse, the "Firm Order Commitment" or FOC Date (July) is so far from the purchase date (Dec), it would seem that there should be to be the ability to communicate a solution - that's what retailers should do. I'm asking myself why Diamond just doesn't just do the sales outright to the consumer if automation is the retailer's only goal. The worst feeling a retail customer can have is that his/her time is being wasted because there isn't a retail intermediary to make some common sense determinations about timelines of purchases for counter-intuitive website UI/UXs - or make an effort to have more than an email conversation with dictated steps and process...
