Update: 5/7/25. Within a half an hour of my posting of this review the GM reached out to schedule a meeting with her to talk about what happened. My friend and I met with her this afternoon. She was gracious and kind and was eager to listen and learn how they can improve their customer service. I appreciated that. Hopefully this is a learning experience for their staff and that improvements are made.
Sent this to Pfriem twice via their website communication and haven’t heard back from them. So disappointed.
To say that I was excited about Pfriem opening in my neighborhood is an understatement. Who wouldn’t love a great family owned business with a wonderful reputation to be a pillar in our community?!? My friend and I visited Pfriem on Friday afternoon/evening April 25. I had put our name in at 3:55 and then came back at 4:20 with my friend and her baby, two more people in our party would be joining us shortly. My friend and I had both ordered 8 oz pours at the front bar and waited for our table on the bench inside by the the host’s desk. At one point while waiting, I was holding both of our glasses while she tended to her baby. Once seated, we transferred our tabs and ordered some appetizers while we waited for two other people in our party. When the server came to ask about another drink for me, I pointed to my 8oz glass, which I did notice had 8oz printed on it, and told the server that I would “have another 8 oz pour” of cider. She then comes back and brings me a 12 oz glass. She walked away before I could say anything and when she came back to check on us, I told her that she brought me the wrong size because I had ordered a second 8oz pour. She then went to talk to her manager and came back and informed my friend and I that my first pour had been rung up at 12oz. This was obviously a mistake since my friend and I had the same size glasses and hers was correctly run up at 8 oz. She said that because the glass had already been bussed, that they couldn’t fix the price of the first pour to reflect that it was 8 oz but instead they were going to ring up the 12oz pour as 8oz despite the fact that I only ordered 8oz. We asked to see the manager after she said that this was the only thing they could do for me. The manager came over and started telling us that she was hearing from her staff that I had a 12 oz glass and that she herself saw it in the bus bin. My friend, who has been in the service industry for over 20 years, and I informed her that there was absolutely no way that she could have seen that from our table and it had to have come from a different table because we indeed both had 8 oz pours. The manager went on to essentially argue with me and insinuate that I was lying over 4oz of cider. I informed her that I felt very upset and uncomfortable with the fact that she was accusing me of lying and that if she looked at the security recordings from when we ordered the pours at 4:20 that she would indeed see that my friend and I had the same size glasses. This was all over a $1 difference in price for 4oz of product. All of this caused us to feel upset enough that we decided to close out our tab on the spot and inform the rest of our party not to come and we would not be ordering our entrees.
It was apparent that there was no regard for customer service or getting things right when it was clearly a mistake on their part. Pfriem, the company, will be fine, it will remain popular and continue to rake in tons of business. However, for me and my friends who live 5 minutes away and a block away from Pfriem respectively, we have lost the ability to feel good about supporting this business in our community, and that is extremely unfortunate and wildly...
Read moreI can't say enough amazing things about this place. When we came to visit my sister's family they wanted to take us here and we are so glad they did. The food was amazing but the service was over and above anything I've seen at a restaurant. Our daughter is type 1 diabetic and when we asked if they had diet coke or anything sugar free the waiter we had kinda paused and said unfortunately no they don't have anything like that. Queue 10-15 minutes later and he came back to the table with a diet coke for our daughter. Apparently the manager Rick caught wind and decided that wasn't right and went and got a diet coke for her which was just above and beyond amazing!!! We couldn't believe it and our family will probably remember that forever.
The Chili Verde was delicious, a hint of heat and great flavor with a wonderful presentation. I would definitely get this again.
The Chicken Sandwich was very well done, my wife and daughter each loved it. The bite I had was solid and had great flavor. They also loved the fries and were very happy with their choices.
The family shared a Mac and Cheese, which while very rich the whole family really enjoyed having it as a side to our main meals.
The Pimento Burger, while lightly modified by my son, was a double thumbs up. He inhaled the whole thing and the fries and went back for more Mac and Cheese.
The Sausage platter is a solid appetizer, the kraut and mustard were delicious and it didn't take long for them to be eaten by the table.
Beer selection was great, I did a flight of mostly lagers and really enjoyed them all. My wife who isn't a huge beer drinker also enjoyed them, the nectarine was probably her favorite, I really liked all of them and would drink any of them if given the chance.
If pFriem wasn't already my favorite brewery it definitely is now. I can't say enough how amazing this place is and you definitely need to stop in and...
Read moreWe attempted to go on opening day, around 6pm. Super not happening. Wait list was long and we didn’t want to wait outside, especially with the dark cloud of rain which was heading that way. Made it today, Day Two of being open. Here is my review:
My people arrived around 3:30pm and I arrived at 4:30pm. They were all ready to order another round when I got there. We placed our order and then our server came to tell us it would be a bit, as they had run out of pint glasses. Our immediate thought was (and yes, we recognize this was day two of a highly anticipated opening of this establishment), “who didn’t think this through.” Especially when we heard it was the same thing on opening day.
Everyone was looking forward to this opening. We all knew that. No doubt it’s gonna be busy as all get out, from the get go. But……how do you run out of pint glasses and how do you not have a smaller glass solution? Everything was fine and perhaps it’s because we come from a family run business ourselves but it was noticeable lack of planning.
I’d also point out that the price point is so Sellwood/Pearl District/NW Portland. We weren’t there to eat, just check it out, but not much was very interesting in the menu. $16 for Mac and Cheese? Nope, cannot do that. Not because we can’t afford it but more because that’s just nutty! We can (and, do) make delicious food at home.
I’m happy for Milwaukie for this business to open, though. It’s gonna be great for all of the new families who have moved here from Sellwood. Kinks will be worked out and it may slow down…until the farmers market opens. Get a bus pass. Happy...
