I love the park itself, it is very close to my home, but every-time I go , something goes wrong, and it is always about Safety. ON August 1st 2012, my child spotted a drawing 2 yo, and thanks to his observation (was 5 at that time), I was able to rescue the child, that was already unconscious and not breathing. I called the life-guard and pass the unconscious child to him (they have NOT noticed him). With CPR, we (life guard, and me) got him back to breathing, perfect, vomited tones of water in a few seconds , but then I found out by concerned moms in the pool that this was the second time this happened to this child in a day, and that another mom had rescued him (chocking, but breathing). Life guards were all celebrating after the incident, and it took me to remind them that it was ME, thanks to my 5 yo, that rescued the child, not them. Tried luck a year latter, as the park is so close. Lot of violence in the pool, and not one calling that out. The "Rules of the POOL" sign was empty. My hypothesis (I am a minority physician, with a passion on Health Equity) it that most people on the pool are minorities (AA and Latinos), and all the life-guards are not, (lack of "cultural Concordance", as define in Medicine, by our Institute of Medicine), so my hypothesis is that most of the life-guards feel awkward in making customers comply with the rules. So, after this, I requested my season pass (I did it that day) back. Last night, it was so nice, it was late, it was Sunday , and I thought , hey, let's go with my younger one out of the house for 2 hours to the park (she is 4 yo). We arrived at 6:40, waited for the brake to be over (Noticed, by the way, that the "Rules of the pool' sign was still empty) and got in the pool. I noticed first hand that there were LOTs of "non rule complaints": despite the fact that there are big signs stating "Swimming suits needed to enter into the pool", there were a few children with regular clothing and one toddler in a underwear.
We got into the pool, handed some floating garbage to the LIfe Guard (an M&M empty bag), and to my surprise, minutes latter, I found 4 little "POOP" excrement in the pool. Touched them (thinking it my be a rock, and noticed that they left a mark in the bottom of the pool, took a sample out of the water, and it was poop indeed. Told the Life-guard about this, and he , discouraged, told me "Again?". I did not know that there was poop before, but reassured him that there was poop now, and proceeded to show that to him. He told the supervisor right away. I did not leave right away, as I wanted to see what happened. The Supervisor spend 10-15 minutes talking (and giggling) with all the life-guards, while small children kept playing in the water. As no one was calling the children out, I called her out and asked her how come nothing has been done. "OH! I need to confirmed that this is poop. This is the first time this happens to me. will send someone right now". And I said," this is a public emergency: you take the children out of the pool, and then confirmed it". and with that, she turned back, went to the life guard, and fired the call for everyone to get out of the pool due to the "poop emergency".
I am calling the local authorities today AGAIN, as EVERYONE deserves a safe water park, and I am afraid this is NOT. I want to get a comparison of incidents between this park and others, as I have a feeling that safety scores are different, and if not, something is missing, as with my three visit I found severe safety violations of some sort. What is going to take to act? a life? I am really worried, and the children of NorthEast Minneapolis...
Read moreDO NOT EVER GO HERE! Worst water park we've ever been to by a mile. I brought my 3 kids 8, 6 and 6) to celebrate a special occasion for my twins, but left with one of them absolutely sobbing. First, all of the slides are closed even though their website says nothing about it. They're only open 4-7 on weekdays in late summer, but they still take 15 minute safety breaks every 45 minutes, so you're lucky to get even 2 hours of actual swimming in during that time. They tell you when you enter that there are no refunds if they have to close the pool for ANY reason, and then they repeat it over the loudspeaker every 15 minutes. Makes me wonder how often they close it down and for what kind of ridiculous reasons. They also tell you that if you leave (like to go to the ice cream truck) and they reach capacity, they won't let you back in until other people leave. The chairs, pool deck, etc are super dirty (and we got there shortly after open). The last straw was when my twins waited 15 minutes to go on the rope crossing. They let my first twin go across, but 2 minutes later when it was my other twins' turn, they told him he had to leave because he wasn't tall enough- they are the exact same size!!! Needless to say, twin 2 was sobbing and wanted to leave immediately. Talked to both the lifeguard and the pool manager about it, but they both just said that different lifeguards do things differently and that there was nothing they could do about it. We left immediately, and as we were leaving almost every parent around me had a horror story about how bad this place is and recommended other water parks in the area that are better. We will absolutely...
Read moreThe swim lessons for pre level 1 are a WASTE OF MONEY. The kids did not get into the pool until 11:30. Class is 11:15-11:55. The last 10 minutes all they do is go down the slide, not to mention the whistle blows at 1150. So the kids are actually "learning" for maybe 15 or 20 minutes. There are 3-4 girls teaching and only 1 girl is actually working her butt off. The first 3 classes 2 "lifegaurds" talked the whole time not paying attention to the kids at all. I had to stat close because at one point my 3 year old went over towards the deeper end while the 2 "lifegaurds" were socializing. I had to yell at her to go back in the shallow end 1 of the "lifegaurds" got out of the pool during class to rinse off in the shower! She didn't learn anything I couldnt teach her. On the other hand level 3 teachers are amazing. My 8 year old learned soooooo many new skills and techniques But, it is hard to give a good review because of...
