Look - the worker's hearts are in the right place. I am certain that as far as other services go, they excel. However, when it comes to their debt counseling services? I'm not sure I've been places where I've felt more ashamed of my situation than through these services. I felt talked down to, like I didn't know what I was talking about. But the truth is, is that I - along with many, many other people - simply are not getting paid enough to live. The truth is that living is becoming exponentially more expensive, and if you are living in debt in America? It's not your fault. Your company doesn't pay you enough, rent/food is too expensive, and there are no social safety nets to assist those who have historically been underserved and marginalized. To hear the words "well, what do you want me to do?" From someone who works at a religious organization that generates $213.7 million in revenue is, well, laughable. The suggestion given to me the last time I called for services was to not pay my credit cards, because I couldn't afford it. Why are we still trying to teach people that if you "just work harder, you, too, can (maybe) someday live the life of your dreams", instead of teaching multi-million (billion) dollar corporations to stop...
