Open Eye Theatre — Attraction in Minneapolis

My recent visit to Open Eye Theatre in South Minneapolis was nothing short of extraordinary, culminating in the deeply moving and utterly unique experience of "Ode to Walt Whitman." The first time I went here was for an anniversary showing of "A Prelude to Faust", and I was blown away by the mix a puppetry and live (human) performance art! The old brick venue is charming and intimate. Made a return visit recently to see another creative performance that incorporated shadow puppetry with live performance. Even though there aren't many dining options in the immediate area, they usually have beer/wine and snacks available pre- and post-show and 'eat street' is a short drive away. I was able to see the Open Eye Puppet Show on June 17th at 5301 37th Ave So, in the middle of the blocked off street (one puppateer lives near that address). I'd guess at least 150 people or more, about 60% under 9 years old, watched it, and the audiance was really engaged in the production. They also had free popcorn, cookies, lemonade and suckers before it started and popsicles, icecream sandwiches and watermelon afterwards.
