I hate giving bad reviews and I try not to unless it's a big issue. I tried this restaurant cause China Moon was closed, but I would have rather saved my money and waited until tomorrow when i could order my regular place. But the food was just really not good. We spent $70 on food that had zero flavor. The orange chicken had barely any flavor and there was broccoli under the chicken which was really hard like it had barely been cooked and tasted more like orange then the chicken did. Orange flavored broccoli is definitely not something I'd want to eat. The chicken in the orange chicken was chewy and rubbery like it was all fat. The beef and broccoli was okay but didn't really have much flavor. The beef was super chewy and felt like I was chewing on rubber. The fried rice had literally no flavor. The egg rolls were just okay. My boyfriend said his chicken and beef was the same texture as mine and had almost no flavor. He also ordered his two items spicy and didn't have any heat to it. Honestly the best tasting thing was the white rice that came on the side..... I don't know about anyone else, but we don't enjoy bland, rubbery food. Especially not when we spent $70 on it. Really just all around not good and won't be ordering...
Read moreThis place has been a neighborhood staple for at least the 18 or so years I’ve been coming here. I can still remember my first experience - I ordered the orange chicken while my friends ordered the General Tso’s. Mine was good, but theirs was out of this world!
In college, I introduced my roommates, and eventually the whole hall in the dorms to this place and many of them still drive (as I do) from all over the metro area for the “C19 - General Tso’s Chicken Dinner Special Combo, with pork fried rice (and an egg roll)!”
I personally liked the metal serving dishes that predate the current plastic ware, but was nearly burned enough times to understand the switch.
Long and short, this is a family run restaurant that I love to support. Know what you want, and you will not be disappointed. Happy to have small business doing well in a neighborhood that has seen a lot of others come and go...
