Service/Repair is a joke. I don't typically leave reviews, but this was rather egregious and worth stating to save others the trouble.
I brought in a Power Washer to be serviced as I believed the pump was blown. When I got home, I later realized that the garden hose was damaged and potentially the cause. Nonetheless, I left the power washer to be checked out as it is old and likely needed a once-over anyway. A couple weeks later I get a text that my repair was complete. Due to travel, I was unable to get there to pick it up for a couple of weeks. They then called and said, "are you going to pick it up or should we scrap it, we don't have room to store it" WHAT?!?! There was no urgency for pick up in the text that I received so what's with the attitude? I said I'd be there as soon as I could to pick it up. So I show up for pick up and they tell me that they could not find a new pump so they did NOTHING. NO ONE told me that they could not fix it - my text said my repair was complete. Annoyed, I grabbed the power washer and left, remembering that there was a likelihood that the original hose was the culprit. As soon as I got home, I fired it up to the new hose and worked perfectly. No issues.
So, they clearly don't test products to determine 1) if there is an issue and 2) what the root of the issue is. If you say what you think the problem is, they go straight to the $.
With that said, yes, I paid a Diagnostic fee for nothing that was ever...
Read moreDO NOT HAVE YOUR POWER EQUIPMENT REPAIRED BY NORTHERN TOOL. I took my JD Tractor snow thrower in for a simple repair and was told they could make said repair. I waited two weeks, apparently they sent it to another store which is why it took so long. Not only did they not fix the problem, they damaged a hydronic hose and claimed it was not their fault despite the hose being new. I begrudgingly paid for a new hose. When I went to pick my snow thrower up I found that the original repair was not done, so they had to send it back again their other shop. At that point I called and spoke with a manager to discuss why I had to pay for a new hose that they had ruptured. Manager was completely unhelpful and rude and gave me a bs line about “I’ve worked here 15 years and we have never ruptured someone’s hose, blah blah blah”. Totally unprofessional. Two more weeks passed and when I went to pick up the snow thrower the original repair was still not done correctly! At that point I just wanted to be done so paid the bill/extortion and took my thrower home. Cost was $165 to not have the repair done, not to mention the hassle. On a positive note, the service people at the Minnetonka store were nice and helpful. The idiots at the repaid shop, not so much especially the experienced manager. I will never do business with northern equipment again and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Btw, this is the first time I’ve posted a negative review about anyone or anything. You have...
Read moreThey had to fix a used semi-trash pump for me. I supposedly purchased it, as brand new, in the clearance section. When I went to put it I storage for the winter a flap just happened to open and you could see all the junk wrapped around the impeller! Worse yet, was the oil leak from the main seal between the motor and the pump, itself. I was flabbergasted, as mad, all at the same time! Who knows what this pump has gone through? I did get it at a discounted price, but not that much of a discount! This was a used piece of equipment, sold to me, as a new, clearanced item!
I just hope it works, and doesn't go through oil like crazy, because you know, by the timeI have to use it, whatever warranty it had, will be long gone! Typical! Someone had used the pump, without a proper straining device, on the inlet hose, then returned it, just for me, to buy under the assumed "clearance" price tag!
Last time I purchase anything from them. Who knows what they just out right back on the shelves!
Thanks, fellas!
I do have to give them a tiny bit of credit. They did stand behind the pitcher, had the techs go through it, and they told me it works. I can only hope, when the time comes, that is...
