Read moreI've been going to this theater since about 2016, when it was Carmike, and since joining their A-List program have gone fairly frequently (I've seen about 10 movies in the last 3 months).
Positives: (1) Cleanliness: In my experiences, the seats have always been clean, no sticky floors, etc. Employees are always ready to go to come clean after the showing is over. Bathrooms could use a little improvement but I'd consider them to be in fair condition; I've never encountered anything as bad as one of the other reviewer's pictures except that some people are nasty and just don't flush when they're done. (2) Staff have always been friendly and I haven't run into any customer service issues. (3) The recliners are a nice change from pre-pandemic and have made the moviegoing experience much better. I haven't had any so far that were nonfunctioning, not to say they aren't there. (4) AMC's $20 a month A-List subscription has made going to the movies more affordable for those of us who like seeing a two or more shows a month. Combine it with an annual popcorn bucket, and the cost is around $6 a visit (excluding the $20/mo membership fee). I've never been hassled about bringing a water bottle in, either, so that's an option.
Negatives: (1) Prices are definitely high for those who don't do A-List, and the "convenience fee" for buying tickets online is annoying if you don't have at least a Premier level membership which waives them. I wouldn't visit more than once or twice a year for the biggest blockbusters if I had to pay the normal ticket fees and costs for popcorn which will bring you easily over $20 a person. I understand AMC as a company is struggling, so I don't mind throwing a few dollars their way at the concession stand but a lower cost may drive more overall volume and increase customer satisfaction as most of the showings are pretty close to empty except on opening weekends. (2) In the smaller theaters, the overhead lighting stays on in a dimmed condition. Personally I think there's more than enough lighting from the walkways and exit lights for this to be unnecessary as it can take away from the overall experience. (3) The biggest gripe is on the popcorn quality which other patrons have commented on here - it's not very fresh tasting and has an overly squishy texture which isn't what you want. I wouldn't buy it without the bucket discount.
TLDR: It's a decent ex-Carmike movie theater if you aren't expecting a premium format, but it can be expensive depending on whether or not you buy into their recurring memberships. I enjoy going and the recliners have made it a much better experience from 5 years ago. They would get another star if the popcorn was fresher and my only recourse wasn't to douse it in Kernel Seasons. Just my two cents, hopefully someone...
Read moreVery low standards for such an outrageous amount of money.
Update: This happened a few months ago but worth mentioning. I somehow dropped my wallet while watching a movie in theater. The same night I realized I had left it there and the next morning I called they told me they had it and they would hold it. Unfortunately I left for business the day after and didn't return for a few days. When I returned I went to the office and they claimed they no longer had it. Apparently they throw things away if not claimed with in a period of time. Well it had been no more than 5 days, I called and claimed it, they said they would hold it, and still threw it away. I was told that there was nothing they could do for me. They threw away my Tero license, business license, drivers license, and fishing license. I had business cards with my contact info inside and anyone with any sense could reach out to someone via social media or the 100 other outlets available to connect with someone in 2017.
Further more, I went in with my family to watch a movie just recently and was told my popcorn bucket was from 2016 and I needed to purchase a new one. The prices are already absolutely unheard of and then you pull this? If I could give this place negative reviews I would and if it wasn't the only place in Minot to go see a movie I wouldn't think twice about never returning.
I sincerely hope the new management gets there ducks in a row but I have...
