Read moreJune 30th My wife, my son, my brother-in-law and I tried to have a meal at Badlands in Minot this evening but the server we got apparently did not intend for us to enjoy a meal. He started out with slow and somewhat sloppy service. Apparently as I discovered later a table behind and to the right of us seated three of his friends who he wanted to enjoy a chat with more than serving his customers. The food took forever to arrive and I had to ask our server to bring some bread to the table, we never got any. When the food finally arrived, my steak was overly charred and over cooked. I made a point to the young man that I wanted a medium rare steak, emphasis on the rare. I even said pink and warm. I don’t think I could have been more clear. He was behind and to the left having a chat with his friends. I waived my arms and looked directly at one of the young ladies he was chatting with, she looked away at that point I said “OY” in a loud voice to get our waiter’s attention. He came to the table I asked him to look at the cut steak and to let me know if he though 7it was medium rare. He said no but he didn’t check it before bring it and that I shouldn’t yell at him. He then offered to replace it I said no, I don’t want it bring me a check. He disappeared and after a few minutes of waiting I requested a manager. The manager was very apologetic while obviously upset with my complaining. I have eaten at Badlands many times and have always gotten excellent food and service. Today was the worse. My waiter had an attitude problem but unfortunately the manager that came to resolve the situation mouthed the right platitudes but was obviously displeased with me for pointing out the flaws I was forced to endure when all I wanted was a properly cooked steak. If I can pickup on this attitude so can the people that work around him. "The fish rots...
Read moreI am not one that likes to post bad reviews but this is the second time that I have walked out with a large group of people. For the last 3 months we have been coming in and sharing a meal and getting the salad bar as a sided and ordering another for 3.99. And yesterday the waitress and manager on duty were jerks about it and said no way that is said they could not be giving away food that is understandable but you need to get all of your staff on the same page. The waitress was a jerk right from the start not friendly very demanding we ask for a straw and got a blank stare and was told WHEN I GET TIME. This same manager was a jerk once before because we brought in a birthday party and had a cake she more are less kicked us out cause it was a health department issue and I have a call from the GM at the time and he said that was wrong they don't want food like from MCDonalds brought in be we were more than welcome to bring it in we received calls for the Manager and given free meal cause she was in the wrong and I said something about that yesterday to her and she said the same thing. So we took 20 people to applebee's and left the left over cakes for the staff. yesterday we had ordered drinks and was willing to pay for them and she said no so in the long run you lost way more money than just one salad and the price of 10 meals Please get on the same page are we wont be back. I also work in a place that is hospitality and am ask daily where would you recommend Badlands not be...
