Used to be a great park. It's over run with electric bikes that by law are not allowed on the bike trails. But, because Modesto PD are so stretched for more important calls, they don't enforce it.
The restrooms are always overlocked and because of homeless trying to live in them making it unsafe for children and a cleanliness factor. Plan ahead to use the restroom if you plan on going to this park.
Some very unthoughtful people( poorly planned) placed the playground next to the trail forcing riders/cyclists to reduce speed near the playground inconvenience-ing workouts.
The planners did not consult or survey those using the trail, hence why there is a problem only select group from the Mountain bike.
The signs are discriminate towards cyclists throughout the trail, and the signs need to say "Shared Use Trail" with no verbage to tell cyclists anything. (When traveling in other cities, Bay Area and SoCal, I see only Shared Use Trail signs. The basketball courts and tennis courts are well used.
The disc Golf course is always steady with players.
Make sure you lock your car, there have been problems.
The paved trail starts across from the tennis courts and either travel south toward Claus Road, or to the Moose park to the North.
There are Mountain Bike trails, but do these with caution and skill level. Officially those trails aren't recognized by the city for liability.
Modesto has a long way to go too be Bicycle/non motor friendly. You would think with a liberal mayor we would get this? I've been here since 1975, it's still trying to break through. When using the trail walking/hiking/running do not run/walk side by side so that others may pass. Cyclists need to either have a bell or be kind and friendly when asking to pass "with on your left or right" while passing with caution, because inexperienced walkers/hikers may jump or move the wrong direction(sometimes because they don't know their right or left) Also, wear good shoes while hiking(don't wear Crocs,...
Read moreThe Disc Golf Park there is Great! Not only is it free but they change the position of the baskets often. For the most part the people there are friendly and there is a camaraderie between fellow Disc Golfers except for SOME of the players who belong to MADG (Modesto Area Disc Golf). For some reason they think it's ok to take pictures of you w/o your consent and then post them on Facebook saying that you steal other people's disc's (even though they have NO PROOF and they already BAG CHECKED you). Then other MADG Players comment saying that they also think that you have their "missing discs" and that you suck as a player. This behavior is not only WRONG but a defamation of character. Please note that not ALL of the Players belonging to MADG share the same BAD VALUES but when the Vice President is the one posting these LIES it's kind of hard to be at this particular Park and enjoy yourself w/o thinking that everyone thinks you are a thief which in turn makes it hard to be able to enjoy playing Disc Golf while you're there which is depressing especially if you love the game as...
Read moreYou would think living in California we would have some of the best Mexican restaurants to choose from, but not so! We recently happened upon one in Chico (La Hacienda), and the food there is quite good, but nothing compares to La Loma in this out of the way spot in Southern Indiana. Our daughter took us there on a visit a few years back, and it has become a must to go there at least once whenever we visit again! Our last visit was July 2015, I can't recall the names of the dishes we ordered, but everything was amazing! It's not a big place, not big on atmosphere either, but food is awesome, portions are huge, and prices are...
