The University Club — Attraction in Moline

I recently had my wedding at the University Club QC on July 8 2017. The minimum number of guests you have to pay for is 225 if you rent the piano bar level. We had 225 guests RSVP and we were told that they would order food for 225 guests and we could take home any extra. I counted about 20 people that did not show up. That leaves us with a count of 205 guests so there should have been plenty of food right? Wrong, there was no extra food left over for us to take home and the last few tables that went through the buffet line said there was nothing left by the time their tables were called up to the buffet. Joe from Debord catering quoted me a price of $4 extra per person for the prime rib. When we got closer to the date he tried to change this price to $4.50 per person. Because I had the original quote of $4 per person in an email he did honor it. Some friendly advice, prepare to have up-charges on everything and get nothing in return. When I contacted Joe from Debord Catering let me know that they always prepare extra food and since it did not make it to the actual buffet we don't get to box it up and take it home. My wife is a chef and bakes cakes for weddings and special events. A personal friend decided to have her wedding reception at the University Club of Moline.

We spoke with the owners of this hall a time or two over the phone with no issues.

BUT, on the day of the reception, the owners of this business became mean and crude individuals. The bride ordered 300 cupcakes, 25 satellite cakes, a 4-tier wedding cake, and a 3-tier grooms cake and wanted them distributed throughout the 40+ guest tables set up in the hall.

The owners yelled at, berated, mistreated, and insulted my wife for two hours as she set up this expectant brides wedding cake!

I have made 10 calls over the last two weeks attempting to speak with them myself to discuss the situation and they will not answer or return my phone calls.

We will NOT do business with this hall again and will discourage every bride and customer we have to...

I would recommend the University Club to any couple for their wedding venue!! We had our wedding on the Piano Bar Level. To start off the coordinator Lexy was amazing! We used the DJ company that she works with as well (Twisted Mic’s) and having her be involved in the planning for both made it SO easy! She was there the entire night to make sure things went smooth and made adding an hour on the night of to keep the party going extremely easy! The layout of the piano bar was PERFECT because it allowed people to dance and have fun on the main side but provided a place for people chat on the bar side out of the loud music. The venue itself is gorgeous and required very little additional decor and details to make beautiful the night of!
