Thank you Stoney Creek Hotels for helping this Mamabear feel at home during the last leg of our trip back home to Indiana! This is not a paid advertisement , I just like to share what I enjoy regardless of return! My little family loved the in room jacuzzi tub, fire place, pool room, hot tub, and all the little accents around the space that made it feel like a cabin resort but in the city just a short stop off the highway! 🛣

I stayed at Stoney Creek Hotel in Moline, Illinois, checking in on July 13 and planning to stay until July 15. I was even considering extending my stay if things went well, but after what happened, I will never stay here again or recommend this place to anyone. I was visiting family with just me and my 8-year-old daughter, and from the start, it was uncomfortable. Despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign clearly on the door, a maintenance man walked right into our room without knocking. That alone was unsettling, but it got worse from there. When we explored the hotel, the pool looked milky and dirty, and the hot tub on the bottom floor looked outright filthy. Our room felt unsafe because the area around the doorknob was cracked, like someone had tried to break in before. Even when the door was closed, I could see right out into the hallway from inside our room. Since the ice machine was directly across from us, it was really unsettling knowing that anyone could look right into our space. The next morning, I tried to take a shower, but no matter how long I ran the water, at least 15 to 20 minutes, it stayed completely ice cold. I tried using the in-room hot tub to at least wash my hair, but the water there was freezing too. When I went to the front desk to ask about this, Abby, who claimed she was the manager, was unbelievably rude. Instead of offering any understanding or apology, she started swearing right in front of my child while I was calmly explaining the problem. She actually laughed in my face, told me to “just go somewhere else,” and continued swearing. I have never been treated so disrespectfully by any hotel staff in my life. She eventually offered a small discount, but after her attitude and telling me to leave, I decided to check out early. On my way out, I spoke with other guests who were also having the same problem with no hot water. Staff kept blaming it on “everyone showering at once,” which is just not acceptable. To make matters worse, there were ants crawling all over the air conditioner in the room. It was absolutely disgusting. If you are thinking about staying here, please don’t. Let this be your warning. Between the dirty facilities, no hot water, staff walking into rooms without knocking, and being treated horribly by Abby at the front desk, this was a terrible experience from start to finish. I ended up moving to the Wyndham nearby, which was clean, comfortable, had hot water, and professional staff. Save yourself the stress and stay anywhere else.

We were in town for one night to run the Bix7 so I was happy to find a hotel that allows pets and was really affordably priced. Upon getting to our room, the air conditioning was so cold in our room that we had to open the window. When I turned off the AC unit, I discovered a disgusting amount of black mold layering the vents of the air conditioner. Location is decent but be aware that it's between the river and a heavily used railroad track (and some of the trains on that track are really long) so if you are trying to get somewhere on time, be aware that you might get stuck. We were trapped on one side of it the morning of the Bix7 race and later that day we were trapped on the other side of it when trying to get back to the hotel in time for checkout. We were also not impressed by the customer service desk at checkout – I was on the phone for half an hour trying to get through to explain that we were trapped on the other side of a train trying to get back to the hotel in order to check out before 11am. The employee simply looked at me and said "oh I heard the phone, I just didn't answer it." What?! Also of note: other guests in the hotel were extremely loud through the hallways until about 1am (yelling and racing up and down the hallway) which kept waking up my kids, and this was the first time I've ever been in a hotel room that didn't have an interior swinging lock (I thought this was required?).

Don’t let other reviews turn you away from this hotel. For the price point, location, and amenities it was perfect. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and the area was nice and easy to get around. It is an older hotel that has its issues, but nothing to keep me from going back. We were looking for a dog friendly place to stay to visit family for Thanksgiving. We called a couple places last minute to book and were told Moline was not a safe place to stay. Stoney Creek in Quad Cities came up through a couple of different booking sites so we called the front desk and spoke to Ali. She was super friendly and personable. She reassured us that the area was safe (it is a block from the police department) and she was comfortable walking around by herself (she is smaller than I am). At the end of our conversation we booked at Stoney Creek. When we got to the hotel the next day Ali was working the front desk and remembered our conversation from the night before. She got us checked in and made sure we had everything we needed before her shift ended. The rest of the staff were just as friendly and helpful but Ali really went above and beyond for us. The hotel itself was super clean and smelled good (not like cleaners, food, or odor masking sprays). We stayed in a king room that also had room for us a dog and the typical king room furniture and a little kitchenette counter with microwave, coffee maker, and fridge. The bathroom is a 1 person bathroom but was big enough I was able to blow dry and curl my hair without bumping into anything or feeling so cramped I had to be in the main room. The bed was on the firmer side but comfortable. I’m a side sleeper and my arms typically go numb on firm beds but they didn’t on this one. The pillows were a little on the flat side but since they were down they fluffed up nicely. Since we had our dog it was nice that there were plenty of grassy areas for us to walk him. The hotel was also within a 5 minute walk to the river and river walk so we were able to get him out, play, and burn some energy. We didn’t eat breakfast since we spent meal times with family, but the coffee was good. The bar was a nice little area to sit and hang out for a little. Typical bar foods for a typical hotel bar price (we didn’t eat any of that either, but that was due to time spent with family). They did introduce us to our new favorite beer (Cherry Bombshell) and new favorite vodka seltzers (Carbliss) that can only be found in the Midwest (I looked for it closer to home and their distribution stops in Nebraska). We didn’t use any of the other amenities in the hotel but we did look at them. The gym was pretty standard for a small hotel. The laundry room was clean and provided enough room to actually fold laundry. The pool was a heated combination indoor/outdoor pool with a separate hot tub. The pool area closed to children at 10 PM. We could smell that the water was very heavily chlorinated but you couldn’t smell it unless you were in the pool room or right next to the door. Now for my downsides, none of them were enough to keep us up at night or to keep us from going back. The walls are thin so noises around carried in a little. Not enough to be a nuisance but on our last night there were more people on our floor and we could hear them talking in the hall. The blinds on the window didn’t keep out all the light, but I like my room dark to the point you need a nightlight to walk to the bathroom. The door also let in some light from the hall but a towel along the bottom of the door solved that. The hotel was in close proximity to train tracks and we could hear the trains when they came through but not enough that it kept us up or woke us up. Some of the wall paper the upper wall in our room and and some of the stair wells was starting to peel but it had nothing to do with anything other than humidity (Illinois is a humid state and the hotel is in close proximity to a river). Overall Stoney Creek Quad Cities is our new hotel to stay at when we go to Illinois to...

Okay so I just want to state that I'm not bashing the hotel, i just want people to know how our stay went. We were here for 2 months. At first, everything was great. We got a great rate and all seemed well. Numerous times the system charged and tried to charge us for things that weren't correct and without us being present. They finally had to take our cards off file due to it. The water in our room would come out gray at times. The drainage in the shower didn't work properly. Our toilet ran constantly and noone would come fix it. Our fridge went out and ruined $200 in groceries because noone would come out to fix it for 3 days. Coincidentally, our ac went out at the same time and we were without cool air for 3 days. People constantly walked into our room and one night someone attempted to break into our room from the exterior door. The weekend breakfast attendants acted like they didn't understand English when we asked for things that were supposed to be available but weren't put out. There were numerous issues with the pool. On the weekends, kids would run up and down the hall and bang on doors then run away. There is rarely ever food available in the bar, whether due to managers not keeping up with stock or just manufacturer shortages. Forget getting a manager to assist you, half the time they won't come to the front or they will just refuse to assist the desk manager in resolving issues. Only half of the front desk attendants are courteous and noone knows how to work the computer system. If you're on the bottom floor, be prepared to have your room rattled to death by 1000 lb feet at all times of the night. Our medicine also came up missing when it was mailed to the hotel and only 1 employee happened to know it was medicine being mailed there. On our last morning there, I stripped the linens off and found a big spider and DOZENS of her babies under the sheet we were laying on. But for the positives: There is always an event going on nearby. The bartender, Mario, is a true gem. What an awesome person and the very best service and company. Marcia was the weekday breakfast attendant (she is on to a better job where I'm sure she will be much loved) and such a precious soul! It was always clean and stocked in there and she started everyone's morning with a smile and friendly attitude. Front desk attendants/manager, Noni and Lexi were absolutely great! They went above and beyond to try to help us navigate through the issues. Shawn and Nick are great employees, their job is like a male house keeper but for the manly stuff, and they were always a pleasure to be around. This place is a nice looking place and could be so much better if things were better management wise and if there were more disciplined structure with some of the employees not mentioned. We saw numerous people get refunds due to reasons listed above. A lady we met there that had been a guest for a little longer than us also had the same financial issues as we encountered and she had to actually threaten legal counsel to get her money back. She also had bunerous issues with her room, including the whirlpool above her room leaking into her room. I expressed all of these concerns with a corporate employee and he seemed very genuinely concerned and vowed to have it taken care of. My tips for anyone staying here: make sure you know exactly what you're supposed to be charged. Check your room thoroughly before unpacking. Go visit Mario in the bar. Go visit UP Skybar for a romantic night and dine at Duck Creek Delicatessan & Bistro for an amazing dining experience. We would love to stay here again BUT ONLY if the place has some serious changes with repairing things and a staff with a better attitude and knowledge of things. We left here with many new friends and our experience with the hotel was good and bad but we have no bad feelings towards anyone there...

I am typically loyal to Stoney Creek I have been for 15+ years. After our last stay with our grandkids and the experience with Kevin I'm looking for another place. Our room was clean front desk was professional and courteous as always. On Wednesday afternoon upon checking in we were staying with our grandkids we had booked a themed suite our "usual room" The employee I had made the reservation with confirmed my reservation was a themed suite. We Checked in with Donna the front desk employee (very nice, understanding lady) she informed us we're getting room401 which is a king bed with limited sitting area for any visitors. She said the manager said that's all they have, even though I reserved a corner themed suite. She offered an extra roll out bed for the room, I accepted we went to the room it had a jacuzzi. The room was terribly small. We couldn't have any family visit while we were in town, no space what so ever! Grandkids were disappointed. I wasn't happy being woken at 2AM as a fight broke out in a room very close to us you could hear the walls moving. From the room you could hear people in the parking lot talking, yelling and someone pressing the remote to lock their cars several times. The manager knocked on the room door that was fighting and yelled out we have complaints if it's not quiet we will call the cops... Seemed like the fighting worsened after his warning!! The police were called afterwards because it was so out of control! I feared someone could have a gun or something could go through the walls into our room. In the morning, I went to the desk with no sleep maybe 1 hour max. I asked Kevin about my Stoney Creek lotalty points that I accrued also about the situation at the hotel that night. Donna was very empathetic and apologized. Kevin had apologized and as he looked into my rewards account. I told him about my situation and asked why we didn't have the themed suite I had reserved he said they were full and they weren't available. I told him the employee on the phone said they had 2 available at time I reserved. Kevin had no answer! He offered a complimentary night for us and said he would put us in the themed suite this time. So we checked out i left with the intentions of returning. Grandkids were stoked to stay in the room they love. However, No such luck when I went back to check in the afternoon. They had booked us for the same room 401! Totally disappointed! To see the looks on my grandkids face said it all! I refused to stay the front desk called Kevin because I wanted to speak to him! He told the front desk he would call me back! Never recieved a call from him no explanation nothing! He seems to have his staff do his dirty work!! Still waiting for an explanation. I feel I spent $160. between my lotalty points and my money for a restless night and very dissatisfied! When you reserve a specific room and it's available you should get the room...
